Wenger finally decides to make a move for Eden Hazard
It would seem that the Belgian youngster Eden Hazard has been linked with a move to Arsenal since he was in nappies, and he is far and away the one foreign youngster that just about every Arsenal fan would love to see arriving this summer, whether Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri are still at the club or not.
Wenger has said repeatedly that he wants to bring “maturity and experience” to Arsenal, and Scott Parker was thought to be the player that the Frenchman wanted to bring some stability and “English grit” to the team, but today the Star reports that Wenger has finally decided to make a bid to bring Hazard to the Emirates instead of the 30 year-old over-priced Parker.
Hazard is only 20 years-old but is expected to cost at least £25m, but Wenger knows that he has to regain the trust of the Arsenal fans by bringing in some pure genius as well as big tough defenders if the Gunners are really going to challenge for the title next season.
The Star goes on to say that Wenger is still going to go for a couple of English players and the first name on his list is the Aston Villa winger Stewart Downing, but if Hazard comes to Arsenal then Wenger can spend the rest of the summer shoring up the Arsenal defensive positions.

This is great news. Eden is younger and talented. He can play along the entire centre. For long time, Arsenal has lacked a playmaker, and here we have this once in a lifetime golden opportunity to land him. 25 million bucks can not be a bottleneck looking the calebre of this one Eden Hazard.

I hope Wenger can make it happened. Check out Arsenal defence, no world class defender there. So, Wenger should bring at least two experienced world class defenders to the Emirates plus a ’25-30 goals a season’ striker.

Like all the Arsenal pre seasons I can remember we will be linked with every good player and end up buying cheap ones. You know what they say “if you pay peanuts you get monkey’s” .. Can’t get excited anymore been disappointed too many times in the past.

I just hope he’ll sign him. Looking back at the last three summer transfers, you’ll notice Wenger linked with good players but end up not signing. Mostly coming up with some new ones. If he can sign Chris Samba and Eden Hazard, it will be real nice.

After all these seasons of disappointments it is difficult to believe that Arsene might go for a player that we’ve all heard of. Credit to him for unearthing some gems but just once it’d be nice to get excited about a signing. To be fair to him Nasri was well known in France before he was signed, but this guy inspired an unfancied team to the title and won player of the season, which is a lot more impressive. Buy Hazard and Parker and we’ll have two players voted player of the year this season in their respective leagues. I reckon 25m is still good value for this lad.

@Ntopa Peter: Arsenal are lacking a real playmaker? The ONE thing Arsenal are not making is a playmaker. Cesc, Nasri, Wilshere, Ramsey are all playmakers… Hazard is a primary a winger. Sure he can play behind the striker as a playmaker, but we have more suitable players for that role already. Parker is a DM and we need him in order to pressure Song and as a replacement for song, if he is injured or suspended.
As for the rumour: Hazard said that he wants to stay at Lille as they are going to play CL next year. BUT, there was a rumour a while ago that Lille would only sell Hazard if the new club would loan him right back to them, so maybe MAYBE Wenger did this… but this is just a suggestion like the Star were making…

Whoever that believed That Wenger will sign Eden Hazard during this summer can believe anything including a man conceiving and delivering a bouncing babay boy. Wenger has all his life being a deceit. He always claim to be after one good player or the other and at the end of the transfer season come back from the transfer market empty handed. Not sure why we are trying to sign Hazard when we already have Wilshere and Ramsey…this transfer made more sense when we didn’t know that Wilshere was as good as he was. 25 million is a ton of cash-why not sign Benzema for the same coin?

Oh Wenger, I hope somewhere that you read all the Arsenal fans comments and understand our frustration. As someone said if you pay peanuts you get monkeys, we have the chance to land a key player who looks like the sort of player who can play an integral role in our team. SHIT, Wake up pipo. The Mgt of AFC i.e Board and the ridiculous Wenger can only be believed about a big signing when the player is unveiled in Arsenal colours at the emirates. Anything short of that is just deliberate rumours to keep the fans hopes up until its too late into the tranfer window to make any real buys.

@Jimmy, totally agree, how is a DM and a winger being compared???? simple evaluation is: We take Given for cheap and let him fight it out with Scez. Given will retire in 2 yrs so by then Scez will be more than ready (not saying hes not now)…. 1 of Cahill, jagielka or Samba for CB…i wud prob go for Samaba as a strong physical partner for the more robust, technical, ball playing Vermaelan…If Clichy wont sign flog for £10m and then re-invest that money in Baines…if needs be offer everton Squillaci, Diaby or Denilson etc to sweeten it up a little…. Scotty parker in the mid for some old fashioned english steel, i think Wilshire and Ramsey could improve around parker and if we lose Diaby ,Den and even maybe Fab we certainly need some one in the middle to spray the passes around…. Offensively i only think we need Hazard as a long term replacement for Arshavin and Rosicky and wen B52 and maybe Chamakh go for hopefully around 8-10m each we get Falcao who i have read today wenger has offered £25m for If anyone can shed light on that it would be appreciated… The columbian scores in around 85% of his games wirth Porto and i think will be an excellent foil for RVP…

i have a horrible feeling that it will just be another dead end summer, ther already signs…nasri is signing a new contract, arsenal have signed 2 pointless 16 yr old from barca and there are reports that we have bought a bog standard right back from charlton and have renewed intrest in alex oxlade chamberlain. this just shows that wenger is goign to buy young again. and odds on wenger will just buy anotyher avergae french defender, people are living in a dream world, if they think we will sign hazard or benzema at 30 mil each

I am reading the comments and feel that Wenger should read these. Wenger no doubt is a legend, a genius in the game of football, BUT his new concept of growing players does not seem to be paying dividend. Our best players left over the years, Henry, Flamini, Hleb, Adebayor…So I feel that it is time Wenger wins the trust of the Arsenal fans back by buying big. That doesnt mean pay 50 million for a striker who doesnt score, but I mean invest fully in a squad that has experience as well as grit and desire to win silverware.
Hazard looks like an amazing prospect but why are we even looking at him. It will never happen. I would love Wenger to prove me wrong, but there are many clubs who have the nack of outbidding us when it comes to players…So my idea is that until Wenger has something concrete…i.e. Hazard is wearing an Arsenal shirt then its a NO NO. I also think we need some metal in defence along with a goal keeper, we need Reina, our goal keepers have cost us the league and the Carling Cup. Shall I remind you when Almunia went WALKIES in the premier League and then that Buffoons mess in the league cup final….So Wenger if you want to win…buy…buy Hazard and some other good players…quickly!
