Wenger gets the blame for Man Utd defeat!
I’ve heard a few good excuses in my time, but Darren Fletcher’s assertion that it was the Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger’s fault that Man Urd were beaten by Chelsea yesterday must be one of the most far-fetched i have ever come across.
Do you remember when Arsenal were unluckily beaten at Old Trafford? And Darren Fletcher was kicking lumps out of the Arsenal team? Well Wenger spoke to the press afterwards and stated (without mentioning any names), that some United players were only interested in being aggressive rather than trying to win the ball, and maybe the referees should be a little more observant.
So Fletcher is now saying that Wenger’s comments was the reason that the referee gave a free kick to Chelsea during yesterday’s game, and Chelsea scored from it!
“It was clearly not a foul,” Fletcher complained.
“I knew at the time and I have watched it again on the replay. I back-heeled the ball and Cole just jumps up in the air and the ref gives a foul.
“I think we are starting to see Mr Wenger’s comments starting to influence referees which is a shame really.”
If Fletcher had actually watched the game from the sidelines he would have seen that the referee was very very lenient to him and a few other United players. He can consider himself lucky that they were penalised a lot more often.
And as for blaming Wenger? Well Fletcher is simply a typical moaning Man Utd idiot who has been learning from his boss how to deflect attention from another losing performance!

really?doesnt that sound strange.i think fletcher’s problem is guilt and frustration.
but if really that was the cause of the defeat, then fletcher and co should learn to kick the ball and not the leg:the two are different.

In Fletcher, Rooney and Giggs you have a trio determined to question every decision by referees which doesn’t suit them. They have been well schooled by their whining manager. I await a strong official who will yellow and red card a few of the dissenters in a side who have long felt they are above the law.
I think if rooney and fletcher played for arsenal. Theyd kill themselves.
See, arsenal’s players are called naive if they dont assume the ref is going to screw them at every opportunity! (for example, the almunia challenge on rooney this year, or the song(?) challenge on carlton cole) – Their players get to bitch and moan when the ref has actually made the correct decision.
I agree with all the previous comments. Pretty laughable really, and as I think one of you pointed out. He was very lucky he had not left Old T with an RC long before he made most of the tackles he went on to make in that match.
Quite understandable that he would say something negative about Arsenal, Dim Berba said recently that the Championship ‘is a 2 horse race between Utd and Chelsea.(After 12 matches!!!!)
They are both great players but I think that Chelsea and Utd realize the same thing that the rest of the football world realizes right now. Arsenal are an emerging force, and it is not ‘if’ they can challenge but rather ‘when’ they win the Championship/Chmpns Lge etc.
It is clear to all who watch that what Arsenal are doing is no flash in the pan. They are the real deal.
Even if they somehow blew it totally this year. With the squad and talent that Wenger has reqruited. It is simply a matter of time.
Lets hope that time is this year, and 100 goals in the process too!
