Wenger – I’m going to be very active, but so will everyone else!

Posted on May 23, 2011 by admin

Arsene Wenger is well aware that his Arsenal team need a summer overhaul, and he has already admitted that he is going to add some experience and maturity to his inexperienced team.

With Nicklas Bendtner and Denilson having both told Wenger that they are leaving, the manager already has two players that he is looking to replace, and there are certain to be further changes.

Wenger thinks that the up-coming fair-play regulations are going to make many teams splash out as quick as possible before the rules are enforced. He said: “The market will be hyperactive because everyone believes financial fair play will happen soon.

“So we are quickly doing the last buying before the stores will be closed. And for the very first time for a while, I will be very active too.”

I wonder what time the shops close then?

  1. toby says:

suarez for liverpool is the benchmark! you dont have to pay 50 mill to get quality players. also functional not flair players is what we need urgently and these sort of players are even cheaper than suarez was.

wenger has missed out on sooooooooo many quality players like suarez, benzema, given, not because they would of broke the bank at the time, but because wenger just wouldnt part with that few extra mill to get it done and now look where we are!

samba, parker, given, phill jones, tiote, demba ba, baines, krancjear, polacious, nzogbia, cattermole, charlie adam, fellani, every single one of these players and many more like them would improve our team no end and none would cost more than we paid for arsharvin some allot less!

no more crap about it cant be done because it quite clearly can!

  4. Bendtner should stay at arsenal – You cannot buy confidence, if you have four players in the arsenal team who has as much belief in themselves, has do not need someone to motivate them, Arsenal would have won the Carling Cup and the League.

Self esteem lets our players down a low;Bendtner is s superb player! Give him 8 full match in a row

  5. Waleed says:

Wenger knows he cannot rely on van persie to get all the goals which means we need another goal scoring machine. This could lead to the addition of many star quality players or lead to a risky investment into a young player who will not prevail under the pressure… Oh Wenger please choose wisely!

  6. zanto arries (south africa) says:

Bendtner is not playing well I agree but I don’t think we should sell because he is a good player good enough for arsenal ..he just needs more game time ..that’s just what I think I like his attitude..we need him
Arsene Wenger is well aware that we need to add some experience and maturity to the team but he just added an inexperienced 23yr old to the team.so…I’m looking forward to see who is next??

  8. arshav says:

Dont think wenger has ever come out and said he will be very active in the transfer window. In last few seasons he said something like “if i can find a super talent i will sign him” but this time around i do think he will sign players(may be not the usual names discussed like cahill, parker etc). I dont think him being active in the transfer market has anything to do with the financial fair play because in the last few seasons we have made profits out of the transfer window but i think may be he realises the weakness the team has or finally the board is forcing his hands or maybe he finally has money to spend.

lets hope that wenger has realised that he got some shit players that will never win the league such as Bentner, Squillachi, Almunia, Denilson, Eboue, chamack,Diaby and alshavin. This players would generate few millions for us that would be injected into transfer kit to buy new players such as scott parker, cahill, Samba, a talented winger and fast striker who can score at least 25 to 30 goals a season. Mr wenger wek up you project has screwed it is a time for a change mister professor.

well concerning the words said by wenger, quality players are what i think the team need to compete in any competition.bendtner, sqillaci, delnison, diaby, clichy and almunia can all go to hell. then hazard, benzema, samba, baines are favorite for the team.

Nothing will change because Asinine doesnt accept his approach needs changing. Look for 2 maybe 3 average French players and a lot of Wenger twaddle about “belief” just like the last 6 years.

And out of the top four by December 1.

Never has a manager of a top team in Europe had so long to fail. Shocking.

6 managers im 8 years for Chelski shows you can change managers and do well. We should give it a try.

  19. TIm says:

I agree with some of the comments. Its our mental strength that lets us down and our organisation at the back. it is not difficult for average teams to score against us out of nothing – the same cannot be said for man united. to win the league we need to tighten up and get some players in whose heads do not drop easily and will play at 100% for 90 minutes.

i do not think fabregas is a good leader. he is a great player and leads by the way he plays, not by his talk and authority. as long as he is around he will be captain, and that will give us a problem. either we cash in on him or we need another captain. someone like Chris Samba would be a great choice. It would be great to see Shay Given between the sticks, but i’m not hopeful City will sell to a Premier league championship rival. If fabregas goes, Scott Parker would be my first choice. He will complement Ramsey and Wilshere perfectly. Finally, a good striker. Rodallega would fit the Arsenal mould I think, he is slightly better and more experienced than Chamakh, who can count himself unlucky that Van Perise is so damn good, resulting in a lack of 1st team chances for him. We do not need to spend big to win the championship, just wise. Get in the experience and the spine: Given, Samba, Parker and Rodallega.
(and please, no more French – you saw what happened to the world cup squad, too many egos)
oh and play gibbs instead of clichy. i have been disappointed by someone had promise to be great, but is decisvely average. give gibbs a chance instead.

  31. H says:

If AW doesnt get Parker, Cahill/Samba, Hazard, Benzema I would be stunned (and angry) as its clear these players are available and would relish a move to the Emirates.
I feel sorry for NB52 as he is being played in a position that is not suited to him. Credit to him he has been so calm in playing in such a ridiculous position. Not surprised he wants to leave if Wenger refuses to play a 442 system.

We should release, Squillaci (never worked out), sell AA23, Rosicky, Clichy.

And start Sagna pre season training now, so he can learn to cross a ball.

Force Djourou and Kos to speak english as clearly French doesnt work.

Force Chesney to lift weights and eat non stop as he is too frail. Lose the Terminator haircut until he has the muscle.

Keep RVP chomping on the horse placenta.

  33. Anders Hansen says:

I still think he should pitch Fabregas into the market..let clubs like Real Madrid, Barcelone, Milan and a few others do a bid war for him..he will go for 5o+ mill which will thicken the purse he can spend on new quality players. he will split as soon as he can anyway. Secure Nasri’s signature instead..He seems to be more commited for now…
I do understand that Bendtner wanna leave. He is rarely used as the striker which clearly is his strongest position, but on the wing where he is utterly terrible. I dont think he is a bad player he just doesnt fit into the Arsenal way of playing football..especially not when he has to compete with vPersie for the only attacker spot on the team. He hasnt really gotten the chance since his long absence from the team because of an injury.
I dont know why Wenger wont spend what the board allows him to spend, but its been like that for quite some transfer-windows now..and that utterly sucks. Arsenal is the PL club with lowest wages compared to income..They only spend around 50% of their income on wages which is by far the lowest in PL..Clubs like Chelski and Man City is way over 100%..Would love if we could use around 65 – 70 % of our income on player wages..There will still be plenty to pay of debts. I am affraid the reason we dont see more quality signings is because of exactly that

Well with Bendtner and Denilson leaving that leaves space for a striker and much needed defensive midfielder. It will generate more funds and they could be used to help get players. Like a Cahill, Jagielka, etc

Arsenal nids a faster goal machine to support RVP as he alone cannot score all d goals dt arsenal nids to win. But surely RVP is a gud scorer. Benzema will nt be bad cos he has terrific pace. So his partnership wt RVP will surely produce many goals.
