Wenger intends to play Miyaichi next season

Posted on May 19, 2011 by admin

The Japanese genius Ryo Miyaichi joined Arsenal in January, but because of work permit problems he had to spend the rest of the season on loan at Feyenoord in Holland. He immediately became a first-team regular and scored on his debut.

Wenger received weekly updates on his progress and they were all extremely positive. Hee has now decided that he wants Miyaichi to be fast-tracked into the Arsenal first team and will have him playing with the squad in pre-season before having another crack at getting a work permit for the 18 year-old.

Wenger said: “Ryo Miyaichi will be with us in pre-season. We will see if he is ready for us and ask for a work permit. We are hugely impressed.”

The Japanese starlet is obviously a huge talent but it remains to be seen whether he is ready for the faster pace and harder defenders in the Premier League, but if he’s as good as they think he is, then he will certainly be giving Premiership defenders something to think about next season. If he gets his work permit of course…..

He is a like for like replacement on the wing for Arshavin. However his youth will give him a far greater edge and without doubt his work rate will be second to none; as coming into the Arsenal first team less than a year after playing in a Japanese high school league will grant Miyachi, and Arsenal, a sense of incredible gratefulness, and duty.

I ve alot such talents in accadamy in Ghana. Pliz, Arsenal shd turn to Africa to boast their support base. Chelsea is now domimating here due the presence of Essien, Drogba Mikel n Kalou in team. Come pick the youngs n train the in Arsenal style.

It will be another 3 seasons before Arsenal begin to get anywhere close to the best of him. I have seen all 12 games he has played in. and even tho he is raw, he already changes the dynamic of teams he plays in. His talent dictates the way opposition lines up on the left, and when he switches, the mentality of opposing defenders are transferred to wherever he is on the field. Even in his raw state, he is far more effective than Walcott, tho Walcott is more developed. I know the comparisons to CR7 aren’t liked by Gooners, but at the moment, he garners the same attention and effect. If he gets a Work permit, I think He will be a first team player, and He will be the one rotated to the front ahead of Walcott in the coming seasons, as he is far more innovative, and equally as potent with his pace. Arsenal should tie him down to a longer contract, with an astronomical release clause as he is sure to be a star.

    Gbangu,

Africa is a huge fan base, but generate very little income for clubs unfortunately, the same goes for South America. Arsenal will always have a consistent fanbase because of the way they play, But Finances matter more, one good Asian talent is far more valuable than 5 African, talents! Arsenal will win trophies no matter what, but the late 90′s and early 20th Century proves how easy it is for home fans to be critical of the number of foreigners. If it weren’t for Lampard, Cole, Terry at the heart of Chelsea’s team, They would be hated by locals. Considering the age of the 3 mentioned, I expect the backlash to start soon as Chelsea don’t have a British backbone to fall back on

Rio is an excellent talent but i for one don’t believe that he is ready to face the tough england defences instead we should work upon his permit but we should let him stay where he is for another season since he has been a regular because it will help him earn more experience. we shouldn’t repeat the same mistake we made on carlos vela

if your going to have a good team, youthful wingers usually have much more flair and pace, so could be a good idea, we need nasri and walcott more central and buy hazard!

The china market is huge and the commercialism of R.Miyaichi would serve a huge asset to Arsenal. I cant see where Arshavin will fit in or even Hazard.

I’ve seen Miyaichi in a number of games too. Someone on here mentioned him being raw and never was a true word spoken.

He obviously has some talent but from what I’ve seen, not enough to influence the premier league. He’s very physically weak and can knocked off the ball too often. His decision making is pretty poor not sure if he should try a trick or cross resulting in trick not working, cross being wayward. Gets caught with the ball a lot or gets caught waiting for the ball.

In short, a lot of what he does has been done already by a number of our players i.e Bendtner, Walcott, Diaby, Arshavin but in the case of Miyaichi it’s like all of them rolled into one.

He’ll get eaten alive in the premiership. The likes of Steven Hunt will be all over him like a rash !

I think the only reason we’ve bought him is because he’s got a modicum of talent but the real reason is commercial/financial in the same way when we bought Junichi Inamoto quite a few years back. The Japanese overseas can be quite fanatical when it comes to their sporting exports which creates a huge commercial base for marketing i.e clothing, subscriptions to Arsenal TV etc.

It’s no surprise Arsenal trying to fast track him into the first team seeing as they have a tour of the east coming up, which is a huge revenue stream plus, at a time when Stan Kroenke wants to increase those revenue streams for his own ends it’s not so hard to understand the fast tracking !

Still agree we’ve got too much dead weight at the club with Diaby, Arshavin, Bendtner but if we want to be contenders in domestic and european football then no point replacing those players with more ineffective players.

Anyways, I hope this Miyaichi turns out to be the diamond everyone is touting him to be and he can add something to the team but I’ll just have to wait and see !

He’ll be played pre-season, be given a squad number so plenty of anniversary shirts can be sold overseas and then, on August 31st, it will be decided he isn’t quite ready and go back to Holland. Not that I’m a pessimist….

Wenger says that he thinks that fabregas and arshavin will stay, which for some reason he wants (arshavin that is). i dont think this is a good idea, unless wenger can get arshavin motivated for the semi-important games
