Wenger – Jack is a fighter with a knockout punch!
Arsene Wenger is extremely impressed with his young terrier of a midfielder, Jack Wilshere, and although he wants him to keep his temper in check, he also loves to see him fighting for every ball.
“It’s more than aggression,” Wenger said. “I’d call it commitment……”
“Aggression is something negative but he has a committed attitude and he needs to keep that. Jack is what you want from your midfield. He is good in the defensive and offensive boxes. Most players are only good in one.
“He doesn’t look like the sort of man who will back down in a fight, a bit like Patrick Vieira.That is what I like about him. You can go into a fight with him. Sometimes he can be a bit too much but I like the side of his character that is committed. You know he will not hide.
“He has a knockout punch, yes. He is a bit like the size of a player like Paul Scholes. They can fight and play as well.”
He can certainly play, but with that British bulldog spirit Wilshere can become just as influential as Vieira was in the Arsenal midfield. But this statement from Wenger makes me wonder when he has seen Wilshere knock someone out!

Wilshere is fantastic and we saw that at the emirates on wednesday, he hardly gave the ball away and always went in on the slide and gave the barca players the shock of their lives!!!!
