Wenger – Man Utd were more mature than Arsenal all over the pitch
Arsenal were beaten by Man Utd at the Emirates yesterday, but despite going one behinnd in the first half, the Gunners came out fighting in the second period and were aguably in control of the game before Arsene Wenger made his inexplicable substitution.
But Wenger, although disappointed that Arsenal didn’t get anything out of the game, he thinks that Alex Ferguson’s side was “more mature” than the (not-so-young) Gunners.
He said after the game: “I am really disappointed because we had a difficult first half, a nervous first half. It was technically not at the level we want and we came back well with a fantastic fighting spirit in the second half. I thought we had the chances to win the game quite comfortably in the second half but you feel the Manchester United team is a bit more mature in every position than we are.”
The result leaves Arsenal five points behind Chelsea for the coveted fourth place, but luckily both Liverpool and Newcastle lost as well and didn’t leapfrog us in the table, and Wenger admits that there is still a mountain to climb.
“It leaves us in a very difficult position because we couldn’t afford to lose. But there are also a lot of positives from this game. The way we responded in the second half is a positive thing. It’s difficult to have a reaction like that and come out with no points at all.
“I feel the referee had a fair game overall and we had a nervous first half, we didn’t play enough. In the second half we played our game but unfortunately we were not rewarded. But we need to keep that spirit and play.”
A Champions League place may be receding into the distance but it is not impossible that Arsenal could still catch up with Chelsea in the coming weeks. We have a few “easy” games coming up in the next month so perhaps the team can get their confidence back and finish the season strongly…..

I’m afraid of saying any games is easy for AFC. we recently lost games that we should have won and it will take a lot for us to find a way into the top 4. Having said that, no one expected us to be anywhere near the top at the start of the season and we have proved that we can do, all that is left is one last push by the team. We will stand by the players always.
One thing that frustrates me is that the January transfer window is about to close and i have not seen any significant new players (or have i missed something?). I guess we will have to keep our faith in the current players becuase those in charge do not see the need to reinforce the squad and offload underperforming players. What will it take for them to realise that AFC is not a mid table club!

Wenger sucks! Peter hill wood says he is not bothered if the club does not qualify for champions league..After the defeats in Cup matches Wenger says that we are interested in winning the league than win Carling/FA cup. Arsenal are currently placed 5th in the league .. We are not interested in winning Cups , not good enough in the premier league or champions league . It’s been 7 yrs … What are we playing for? Europa Cup.. Arsene Wenger must be thrown out of the club . Get in Usmanov ..damn u Kroenke…

Its time for wenger to let someone else have a go. If that’s now or at the end of the season, who knows. I still think we can get 4th as Chelsea and Liverpool are both just as bad as us. It’s who ever gets there act together first.
Opinions divided. What do you think?

Arsenal are better than Chelsea, when we play in the way that I know we can. The only way we will get our deserved top-4 finish, is if Wenger gets off his high-and-mighty pedestal and admits he has made mistakes. It is integral that we drop players who are underperforming, as reassurance of a place in the starting lineup only encourages a lack of effort. If the senior players aren’t prepared to commit themselves to the cause, by all means give oppurtunities to the youngsters, which will always result in more positives than just flogging a dead horse game after game. Wenger continues to persist with people who honestly don’t have the ability. Fergie and Mancini dont put up with second-rate players, so why should we? Oxlade and Yennaris were both fantastic last night, obviously showing a lot more committment to the cause as they were eager to impress. All Arsenal players must play like every game is their debut, and play with a bit more appreciation for the fans and for their oppurtunity to wear our beloved Red and White. Otherwise Tottenham will take over London, as they show much more committment and passion than we do.

We have a few easy games coming up next month?
Who exactly is easy Arsene?
Teams like Fulham, wolves and Swansea maybe who you managed to get one point out of a possible nine?
My greatest fear is that we lose to villa in the cup and then go and make a couple of panic buys like we did in August.
Go to our website and sit back and take a look at our first team and tell me who is world class material.
You will be lucky to find five or six players and strangely enough 3 of them would be Sagna, TV, and Koncielny all defenders.
Go back 6 or 7 years ago and you could not find one player that was not world class.
We have been going backwards for a while, and now we are paying for it.
At the end of the day you get what you give, buy the best, and you perform the best, buy rejects and second rate players get second rate results.
The only ones getting the short end of the stick are the fans who are paying high ticket prices giving the club more and more money and getting nothing in return.
The root of the problem is when you look at who is running the club Kroenke and Gazidis and we should be really scared because they are not Arsenal supporters and therefore could not give a rats arse what happens to the club once the yank’s investment has made him the most it can.
So what is the next step now that we have only one maybe two players that we can sell and make these greedy bastards some more money.
We can’t sell AOC, well not yet anyway because they would not get the return on the money paid so whats waiting for us round the corner.
I read many posts on here saying that we should not panic and that we should trust AW and good times are ahead but I honestly cannot see the silver lining.
We are not buying the players we should the shareholder is tight, or Chief executive supports man city and is making sure we sell our biggest players to them and the manager still sticks with the board members instead of announcing that he wants to buy the best and is being held back.
The cherry on top is that we actually think we can qualify for the CL when we will be lucky to play in the Europa.
Absolutely depressing

What i don’t understand is why does wenger allow ,apperantly, under performing players to remain in the club. If he,wenger, does not want to spend money,he should, atleast, sell players that are obviously not worthy to be in a football club as big as Arsenal. For crying out loud, Arsenal is fast becoming a mere average club that cannot be compared to Clubs like Mancity and Totheham. Pls wenger, sell and buy.

I don’t have much to say, just one question: there’s someone busy signing KIDS yet we are a rich club capable of signing MATURE WORLD CLASS. Who should be responsible 4 maturity of the team? Pliz dont say that 2 us fans coz we entrusted u with managerial responsibilities

I wonder AW when he says we still have easy game. I dont see any away match which arsenal will win. Even Home match is very likely to loose to all big teams. Just for now we have lost 8 matches I gues we can still loose another 7 and loose a total of 15 matches plus draw. This show that it is impossible to be among top 4. To me it is better to target be among top 10 then possibly next season to start investing.

@Red DB Well said. You watch. RvP and AOC will end up at City sooner or later. Arsenal has become a training ground, when the players ripe, we sell them to City or the next highest bidder. Makes sense as Gazidis probably gets a small cut from them too. I mean honestly, why else would a devout Man City supporter be the chief executive at Arsenal? All this conveniently happens while Arsenal sell 3 of our players to them. F*cked up is what that is. Some serious politics going on internally at AFC that is crippling our club. Then we have ’3 bags full’ Wenger, who will not buy any decent players because, well according to the majority of fans, the board isn’t allocating the funds to him? But we keep hearing from Hill-Wood that AFC has financial stability and that money is not a problem. So then where is the bloody problem? The fans are being royally screwed over here, being lied to, paying more for season tickets etc etc, while we watch our club slowly burn to the ground. Yes, not being in the top 4 for a club as prestigious as Arsenal is a CALAMITY. We should be no.1, not battling for 4th!
What we have people is a bunch of blood sucking, greedy, dishonest thieves running our club, cashing in while they can. They won’t stop until there is nothing left. My question is what are us lifelong fans going to do about it??

I am afraid, AW is in a matchfixing scandal. anyone in his right mind can not take decisions that fireback to the head. we are now seeing to unacceptable decisions killing our chances of finishing in the top-4. against Fulham (Gervinho, Ramsey and Walcot) all our attacking options were not in the field of play and allowed Fulham to dictate the game. Against MU, Chamberlein was subbed for reasons no one except AW knows. come next season, RVP,Song,Sagna and keeper will be handing their transfer request. The club is becoming a place where a bunch of losers are collecting their salary. Youngesters come, shine-up and build their confidence and then they r gone to collect their medals from Barca, MC and others..

wenger is an asshole. he is just one manager i hate…alex was doing great before he brought in an asshole like him who cost us the three point because we could have won if alex was still in the field of play. did wenger say alex was fatigued? alex with a broken leg is better than arshavin with an xtra head and legs. though the club dont need xtra players, we need an xtra manager. Go wenger, leave the club i love with passion. stop causing us great heartache.

GET HIM OUT. HE DOESN’T EVEN DO ANY WORK ON DEFENDING IN GENERAL AND DEFENDING SET PIECES AND YET YEAR IN YEAR OUT WE LOSE GAMES BECAUSE OF THAT. WHY DIDN’T HE BRING IN ONE OF THE OLD BOYS{TONY ADAMS} TO COACH DEFENDING AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK? WHY CAN’T HE GIVE A PLAYER OVER 30 MORE THAN A YEAR CONTRACT AND THEN GO AND BUY SILVESTRE FROM MAN U AND SQUILLACI? IMAGINE IF WE STILL HAD LAUREN, GILBERTO ETC AT THE CLUB. BRING IN RIJKAARD, PEP, HIDDINK OR ANCELLOTTI AND YOU WILL SEE PLAYERS WORKING THEIR SOCKS OFF? WHEN HAVE YOU EVER SEEN A PLAYER ARGUING OR DISAGREEING WITH WENGER? NEVER. BUT WE SEE IT AT EVERY OTHER CLUB MEANING THERE IS A PASSION. BUT WENGER IS BECOMING A DISGRACE EVEN COMPLAINING TO THE 4TH OFFICIAL WHEN HE SHOULD BE ROASTING HIS PLAYERS. PLAYERS WHO ARE PASSIONATE E.G ADEBAYOR ARE DEEMED A BAD INFLUENCE AND YET WHERE IS BENDTNER NOW? GET HIM OUT

Trust me sack Wenger and bring in Brendan Rodgers.
He created a EPL from minimal money and got them to play the Game we are used to. With conceding 6 goals at home and only losing once at Home.

I don’t think this has anything to do with maturity at all. Most of our players on the field were full internationals, captains for clubs/country etc so what are we talking about. The defence was good apart from Djourou as usual, midfield was poor of creativity. Actually Rosidsky did well. We lost 1-2 to Man U at the Emirate. That score line only has 1 problem. We just did not score enough. We were @ home, why did we not win the game 3-2, 4-2, even 5-4, but a win. We simply struggled to break them down, we need a like for like Fab replacement. Last year we had our worst defence formation but finished top 4. The trick was we just had to try score more than we let in and worked to an extend. So all we needed was to strengthen the defence for this season. Instead we added steel to the defence and sold half the Midfield for profit. Our midfield was Song, Nasri, Fab and Wilshire. Start of the season Wilshire was injured, Nasri n Fab sold. Until we get to spend that money to replace Fab, talking a quality attacking Mid here at least 25-30mill+ we will continue to struggle. In fairness Arteta has done well. So I am not calling for Nasri replacement cos he was no magician but Fab must be replaced for us to be anywhere near complete. Look @ City games without Silva, they remind you of Arsenal. We need one like that
