Wenger must go? The fans say YES!
After Arsenal’s home humiliation against Man Utd yesterday hit home, the fans have come out in protest against Arsene Wenger’s refusal to spend some of the massive profits he has made from selling his best players in the last few years.
The transfer window closes today, and Wenger has already stated there will be no new arrivals, not even the talented youngster Victor Moses, who has gone to Wigan today for peanuts!
I wrote a post this morning about Wenger not buying, and judging by the fan’s comments, it is obvious that they think that there will be no more trophies won while Wenger is in charge.

WE PLAYED 3 MIDFIELDERS AS A STRIKERS and have not yet bought any striker after Adebayor and RvP?????? We never really replaced Gilberto, Flamini or Patrick Vieira and only just got Song to play up, and he doesn’t have a duputy…Teams are built in pairs…for every Michael Essien, there is a Mikel Obi and when does 2 are out there is someone to come in and not skip a beat..if we want to rely on the youngsters, then we need to play them more amongst the senior guys, not play them all at once in an effort to loose a potential trophy!

It’s strange. I didn’t see many people asking for Wenger to be sacked when we were top of the league not so long ago. 3 games without a win and the words “knee” and “jerk” come to mind. Wenger is one of the greatest managers in the world, we all need to get behind him and hope he doesn’t leave, because if he does, then we’re really in the proverbial sh*t.

This is the sort of reactionary response that gives all Arsenal supporters a bad name. Sack Wenger? While I’m sure many of you don’t remember what it was like before he came here, let me refresh your memory. A Champions League place was NOT a given, trophies didn’t magically fall into our laps, and the last manager before AW who won anything hardly spent anything either (although when he did, part of the fee somehow remained in the manager’s possession!). These comments are worthy of Le Grove… I’m ashamed that this is what passes for an Arsenal blog.
Yes, I’m unhappy that we didn’t buy anyone, but tearing down everything the club has been built around for 13+ years and sacking the most successful manager in our history is a SLIGHT overreaction. For shame.

I never said Arsenal should win at all cost or go “glory hunting”.Neither did I say “winning is everything” Go back and read my comments carefully because if U don’t understand English then don’t criticise others. I was actually referring to FinnGun who said we don’t need to go mad spending. That chap completely missed the point. No Arsenal fan responding to this blog ever talked about spending madly, but a MANAGER MUST SPEND SOMETHING TO WIN SOMETHING.
I actually believe if Arsene had spent the £30 million on a goalie, an all round competant defender (tall, though not Campbell) and signed Huntelaar on loan, we may not have been spanked the way we were yesterday. He won three titles with Arsenal in the past, we are enormously gratful for that. Now, he fails to comprehend that the football game has moved on. We are not in 1980 or 1990. What a load of rubbish, these posts are clearly from plastic arsenal fans. Wenger is the best manager we have ever had, and will continue to be as well. He’s a genius and has done so much for the club during his reign. People asking us to live in the limelight of chelsea and uniteds glamour should go steer their loyalties towards them instead. Arsenal are not that kind of a club and yes, he won’t buy but e has a good reason. He has young strikers who are hungry to do well and still developing, give then a chance, don’t bring in an over paid ego who would distrupt our cohesion as a team. I actually hate a lot of fellow arsenal fans- so fickle. Had we put in a good performance on Sunday rather than a sub-standard one – the same “supporters” would be making totally different statements without a doubt. The players Wenger has brought in over the years is amazing- Henry, Vieira, Anelka, Petit, Van Persie, Fabregas, Arshavin… I could literally go on all day -on a shoe-string budget compared to Man U and Chelsea yet you have the nerve to criticise him when he continues to perform miracles by keeping us anywhere near in touch- unlike the spendthrifts at Eastland and White Hart Lane. He has generated some money now through signing players for bargain fees, getting years of service from them, then selling them on for a vast profit. Let him spend it how and when he wants on whoever he identifies as the right players when they are available to buy, which he will do in time, because he damn well knows a lot more than you idiots.

I don’t understand why Arsène Wenger wouldn’t make a single purchase when the club is obviously in need of a goal scoring threat right now. I’m a patient supporter in all honesty. I know that with the team we have and good health we can win buckets of trophies down the road. However, we have the chance to do something now and waiting for Marouane Chamakh in the Summer is pointless. The board gave Arsene £30m to spend on players. I am a manager and if my directors say take this money and spend, if I do not and I dont get the results who is to blame ? after all I was given the money so no excuses. If Arsenal did not have the money, that is understandable, and we will not be having this argument. But Wenger has no excuses, no where to hide, no more spin. Dont get me wrong he did well for Arsenal (but that is now history)he does not appear to see the woods for the trees, so may be his time is really up. After all we cant go on for ever.

Couldn’t Wenger have concentrated on winning the League Cup and FA cup so the young gunners could at least boast of something and try their luck at the league and CL? What do you think makes Manchester United tic? It wasn’t really Ronaldo (who by the way only cost Man U 12m and was arguably the best player in the world, no need to doubt the young lads potential), it’s def not Berbatov (overpriced spud)..It was the likes of Giggs, Scholes, Neville and the many OGs left in the squad to make the team seem ageless…now compare that to AW letting Henry go, Vieira, Gilberto, Campbell, Pires, Cashley Cole, etc these player could have made Arsenal tic till today, money and lack of ambition sent most of them packing, and Arsene misplacing the quality such players bring to a team…Biggest mistake was letting some of the gems go due to age…..that’s where Arsene’s policy failed. Dennis Bergkamp retired from Arsenal age 37, HE WAS STILL A demigod for Arsenal.

Wenger should by now understand that arsenal fans are fed up with his deceptive tendencies, no any ambitious team will have almunia as its first choice goalkeeper, denilson as a reiable midfielder and using short players as strikers. Manure are in debt for £700m+ Ronaldo came guaranted from a feeder club they have been funding for years and how many years had he been earning £100k+ per week before he left.
Most the Arsenal greats that left were burnt out, the one good enough to play through his 30′s was Denis. So manure got lucky and had two in giggs & scholes. The players that won them three titles were the Rooney’s and Ferdinand’s how much did they cost. Many players have manure paid £20m+ for and certainly paying over £100k per week?
Same question of chelski? How much is judas cole on?
Even when we won the double in 2002, there was talk we couldn’t afford all the bonus’s. Because every penny was going in to the pot for the new ground. So off loading top players we can’t afford is hardly a surprise.

i agree you can win a title…… but in this day and age you have to buy the damn thing.
However there is one thing that i think has been a mistake and always a mistake??? You play your winning side at all costs. Putting out a weeker side against Stoke after a good run of games can start the rot and it did this time. The team suddenly goes from a winning streak with 9 or 10 of the first 11 playing regular prem matches. Then all of a sudden you play the weaker side against Stoke in the FA Cup to protect injuries, lose the game and then the winning feeling and momentum in the side has gone, hence the 0-0 (Aston Villa)
The rest is history!! You can always ease off in training the day after but there’s no substitute for a winning mentality.

I agree that we should have bought someone BUT, nobody good enough was available in January & prices in the summer were STUPID!. people are freaking out. arsenal were first last week and lose and drop to 3rd and people start demanding wenger to be fired. its stupid and ridiculous. YES, we need a keeper whos at least a lot better than almunia. but gal and Verm have had an excellent season. our left and right back positions are the weak spot. And yes, we could use another top class striker, but only bc Eduardo and Van Persie are out and Bendtner is just back from injury. Its not as if theyre not good enough. keep in mind-were a really young team…and guess what, players get better as they get older. In my opinion, were still about 2 years off our highest potential so long as Wenger can keep the team together. If he does that, soon, this young bunch of kids who are ALREADY competing for the title will dominate. If you want instant gratification go to mcdonalds or support chelsea/man city. This team is building, and im excited to continue to watch where theyll take us.

Im as disappointed as any1 else when we didnt buy in january and my whole family are Man Utd so u can guess how i fell bout it.Plus wer i live its all Man Utd n Spurs so im not having a great time.Spurs fans keep asking when was the last time we won a trophy n after we nearly won the league in 08 i made a bet for £50 that we wud win the league in the next 5 years n now im starting to panic!!Thou we still need to keep Wenger.Come on look what he has done show him loyality he hasnt always had money wif the new stadium so he had to go for youth.I do believe we need 5/6 players if he is going to continue with this system and i realy think he might buy big in the summer!!

I certainly don’t think that Wenger should be kicked out as he’s built a strong, challenging team with very few resources. Don’t forget that we’ve had worse injury problems than ever this season – worse by far than any other side. Take Rooney out of Man Utd’s side for 6 months, Berbatov for 3 months, Evra and their first reserve left back for 3 months, plus restrict Valencia to 10 appearances (half as sub) all season, and you’ll get the gist of what’s happened at Arsenal since we lost Van Persie, Bendtner, Clichy, Gibbs and Walcott for big chunks of the season – oh, and I forgot to mention Nasri. Where would Man Utd be now? I’m not sure, but they’d be lower than us, that’s certain. Have faith. If we can get everyone back, and if we can get our eternal sicknotes, Rosicky and Eduardo, firing on all four cylinders, we’ll have a top team.

To be quite honest, I don’t think we deserve to be where we are in the PL. A lot of our games were lucky victories, our guys just aren’t consistent enough, and consistency comes with experience which half our team of school boys clearly lacks. When players get injured, it’s the managers duty to make sure there are suitable reinforcements to take over. When VP, Walcott and the rest got injured we had to scramble players into makeshift positions to try and make up for the loss. If you look at Chelsea, City, United they have plenty quality players on the bench in case injury strikes. Secondly Arsenal has one of the best if not the best financial sheet in the PL, so there is no excuse for not splashing out a bit on some good experienced players. Thirdly, especially after the United game I can tell you what the difference was. Wayne Rooney. Arsenal need a striker like him, one that chases and fights for everything. To me he is probably the best and most consistent striker in the PL atm, and as we saw a player like him makes all the difference. Get rid of De Nielson, Bendtner, Nasri, Troare, Eduardo, Silvestre – they are all useless.
Another thing, Wenger is going on about training up the youngsters who have potential. Look at someone like Fabregas, he has developed into such a great player. But at what cost? If Arsenal don’t win anything soon, I bet the likes of him and Arshavin, Song wouldn’t think twice about moving to Barca or one of those clubs. Wenger, sign some good experienced players, and then play 1 or 2 max youngsters alongside them for experience, not the whole damn team.

We must still support Wenger, i am gutted we have not signed anyone and the man u game was horrible but there is a reason why so many players respect the man. Wenger is a great manager no matter what some “fans” say, we play great football and have a great business model. I dont believe that Wenger is unwilling to spend, but why throw cash at a player just for the sake of a transfer. We tried to buy a striker but they all came out saying that they were staying at their clubs till the summer. What is Wenger meant to do if all the worthy talent are unwilling to move? Buy a flop just so people dont say he is unwilling to spend? Wenger gets the best out of players and that is why so many players want to play under him. We just need to get behind our team and stop thinking it would be great if we had some more players. We and Wenger need to focus on improving the confidence of our current players like Arshavin, Walcott, Eduardo (altho injured again), Nasri, Denilson, Rosicky, Vela and Clichy. All these players are better than most of the talent that Wenger could buy. We are lacking in areas but we have a great squad with lots of talent. We are not that young a team anymore and the players we have need to step up rather than blaming the problem on the lack of transfers into the club. I can see why everyones getting frustrated and as a loyal fan myself, i agree it is annoying. I have total faith in Arsene Wenger and his policy, its proven to provide a young, and high tempo team that produce attractive football. the only issue i have is the fact that he has failed to bring in supporting talent for players such as fabregas and arshavin, we need support for them to play the football that they are trying to and succeed. Arshavin hit out at Wenger saying the team lacks quality and if im honest i cldnt agree more! Watching the Man U game on sunday broke my heart but was more frightening was the fabregas’ attitude. He seemed like he didn’t care and was just playing for the sake of it. If we do not act soon ie end of this season, we will lose yet another world class player. we need to spend big to win big and to allow these players to play the football that they want to. If we dont the result is going to be AW spending more money to replace those that do leave. Sad but True

I just have one question for all the people who say they want Wenger out. Who do you have in mind for a replacement? With the exception of Ferguson who is unavailable, name a manager who has won as many titles for their club as Wenger has won for Arsenal. And name 1 who has done it while generating the funds to put us in a new stadium. Yes I said it Wenger is the reason we are in the Emirates Stadium.
So we haven’t won a trophy in 5 years. I can see how that could be a problem if you only became an Arsenal fan in the last 5 years. But if you are that kind of fan, you don’t have a frame of reference in judging Wenger’s greatness.

why some people refuse to see things in perspective. as a manager he has to shoulder the responsibility of the performance of his team.
