Wenger – Park is ready to cover for Van Persie
Arsenal are set to lose Gervinho and Marouane Chamakh to the African Nations Cup next month, and Arsene Wenger admitted that he would be short of options in the striking department, so naturally there have been numerous Arsenal transfer rumours linking the Gunners with a new striker.
But today Wenger has said that he has cover in Ju-Young Park and possibly Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain or Andrei Arshavin, and that he is not sure if the club could afford a new striker to come in.
“We have a big squad. To add players to our big squad, we will have to see how we can balance our books as well,” said Wenger.
“Then, we lose Chamakh and Gervinho for January – two strikers. Maybe Chamakh has not played too many games, but he is still a security that we have. So Park has to step up.
“The adaptation period for him is over now so he has to come in and show he has the quality to play for us. I believe he has. We also have Arshavin and Chamberlain, who is now ready, slowly, to play.”
Regarding Chamberlain, Wenger stated that he would start gaining experience at the top level in January, but he will bring him on slowly. “In 2012, at the beginning of the year, he will play games.” The manager said. “He is not far away. He is a talented boy, it’s all there – he just needs that toughness in the game because every game for us at the moment is so tight.
“The other night, again, I could have brought him on at Aston Villa and you have no hesitation to do it. But you do not want him to be a little bit overawed by the intensity of the game. He is ready to play.
“He is just missing that experience at the top level. You have to throw him a few games.”
Arsenal play Wolves today in the first of three games in six days, so it sounds like Park will be taking over from Van Persie at some point in the next week to give the Dutchman a well-earned rest, whether he breaks the record or not….

Wtf i knew he wouldnt buy any one in jan someone high in the club wants us to suffer every time i watch van tackled my heart stops looks like a very long season ahead park he must be kiddin we had no cover for van at all let alone another 2 forwards gone

How can they not afford a new striker after all their sales. They can sell some more deadwood in January and buy a quality striker like podolski, Torres or pato

Bull Shit how on earth can we talk about Arshavin and Pack as covers for Gervinho. What a shame of everything at Arsenal. Chamakh must in fact proceed elsewhere after CAN games.
Park sleeps on the pitch, Arshavin does not even know what he is still doing aaaaat Arsenal FC. Let him go please.

I have faith in park, he was adapting to the league and now the prof says he’s ready. He hasn’t been given near enough oportunities to judge him yet. I think he has what it takes to cover for RVP

Why should we put our trust in a has been like Arshavin if RVP gets injured? We need a quality back up like Pato.
But we will most likely all be very disapointed at the end of january when Mr. Wenger yet again hasn´t bought a single player.

Give Park a chance we are pouncing on things toO quickly remember we had the same problem when we bought the new players and look at how they got adapted.
so lets please be behind our players. I am sure Wenger knows what he is doing so please let’s support our team and the manager. Look at the money MAN C aned Chelsea spent and yet they are fighting hard against the bottom team.

rvp has rested for a week so i am hoping that he plays today scores a first half hat trick then departs at half-time to be replaced by park who grabs a brace and we go third.
i would rest walcott and ramsey today, bringing in chamberlain and benayoun.
arshavin and chamakh should be sold and may be park too, bring in a new 3 man strike force to create competition across all 3 positions.

This is beginning to turn into the same nightmare as last transfer window. We CLEARLY need adequate replacement for RvP. WTF is AW thinking? If he gets injured realistically we don’t have another striker. Wenger should have been playing Park long ago alongside RvP to give him decent experience in case something goes pear shaped. Now he plans to throw Park into the deep with hardly enough games under his belt?
If I were Wenger and the stingy board (in a situation where we are not going to buy new players) I would bring AOC in to play striker, and play Ryo while Gerv is away.
AOC is fast, skillful and can shoot. What is Wenger waiting for? Play him next to Park even in 4 2 4 formation. Ryo LW, Park and AOC FW, Walcott RW. Song, Benayoun MF. We will have a killer attack.

Wenger is taking a huge risk at the most difficult time of the season.Am scared, not for Wenger but for my darling team Arsenal.Wenger’s permutation will fail him.This season is very unpredictable that only the well prepared teams will smile at the end.Arshavin is ruled out,Park is not ready and Chamberlin is still learning.This is not the time for gamble,proven strikers are needed to continue the little progress we’ve made. The money is there, spending is always the problem.I want Arsene to understand that a little drop in form or point will be disastrous for the teams future.

Okay what the hell wenger. Gee we have a big squad right now… Hmmm maybe we could sell some dam rotting players to get more money. Then we have a smaller squad, enough room for some new playmakers that we have all heard of. Not some random asian you bought at the oriental, or a guy you picked up at the local tavern.

Mr Wenger what big squads you are talking about most of our reserve players are useless. You did not believe in Park so far that’s way you didn’t play him not even a single EPL till now. All of a sudden you are saying he is a good cover for RVP. Except it you need to buy some real good players in January, stop fooling us & yourself

Why when AW is talking about strikers, he never mentions Tho Walcott, allways that clown Arshavin(A midfielder) and Alex Ox Cham, who has just come to the club this year!!
That is not right!, he has no respect for Walcott who has worked hard on the wing for years and this year has made goals for the club with crosses to RVP. I think with what he has done for the club this year, he should be given a chance and Alex Ox should be put in his place on the wing!

All this coments are rubish,park alone is million time better than arshavin and chamak combine,have you watch him in his former club and national team,to me arsenal dnt still have a striker, van persie a one leg player with poor ball control and no strenght yet injury prone
