Wenger – Please understand that other clubs don’t follow the rules
Arsene Wenger has issued a plea to the fans to understand that Arsenal have to be sensible in the transfer market this summer. The French coach blames the pressure put on the club by the wages and transfer fees on offer from teams with “unlimited resources” makes it difficult for the Gunners to compete on level terms.
Arsenal have signed up to the new UEFA fair-play rules, and Wenger fully intends to abide by the rules whether the other clubs do or not, even if it leaves Arsenal ata disadvantage.
“I think it is the responsibility of a football manager to behave in a responsible way, of course,” he said.
“It is a situation for the fans which I can completely understand. But we are in a job where other clubs do not respect the basic rules of any other company and we have to live with that.
“You cannot think that if there is not enough money to run the company then someone else will come in and give his money. That is not how we want to run the company.
“Of course, the economic situation is difficult for people and for us as well. But we demand some understanding because we have to fight against clubs which have unlimited resources. They put pressure on our wages. How can we deal with it?
“They do not live with their natural resources which is why UEFA want to fight for the fair play.”
So if Manchester City or Chelsea decide to go for one of the same targets as Arsenal, then Wenger will simply just drop out of the bidding?

why are we constantly being fed this crap? sell 5 or 6 fringe players and thiers 40 to 50 mill ontop of what we have to spend simples!
Also why has wenger got it into his head that all players are 50 mill ! how much did suarez cost liverpool? where they outpriced by city or chelsea? we dont need 50 million pound players we need fuctional players that will get the job done!
samba, given, parker, demba ba, hazard and benzema could all be picked up for only 70 to 80 mill maybe less, and if we sell fabregas aswell as others we could actually come out of this making a few quid!
stop mugging the fans of we all know what needs to be done and that it can be done on our budget!
p.s fab is the club captain and watching the spanish grand prix instead of the last game says it all. The away supporters deserved better and it was him praising them last week, this week he mugs them off!

But this not mean that you let Nasri leave us because he wants couple of pounds in his new contract, remember he is the best Arsenal player this season with RVP, don’t make same mistake you did with Flamini who we can’t compensate him till now

wenger says he wont make 50 mil signings…we never expected that newayz. we just want 1-2 good 15 million signings, like say vertonghen(push vermaelen to lb), samba, and if fabregas goes, with the additional get hazard/goetze. AND if we’re really lucky, get a striker(gervinho) or push walcott to cf. That is 4 players, total up to 15+12+20+10=57 mil. 50 mil from fabregas’s sale, and remaining recovered from bendtner and denilson. I know its not as easy as saying buy this guy or that guy, but all the guys i mentioned are well within our reach

people need to realise that its not just a transfer fee thats involved, its also wages. if we bought the brilliant hazard for example for 25 million and he wanted 5 million a year on his 5 year contract he then becomes a 50 million pound player. will he be worth it? in my opinion yes he will, he is a player that can truly light up a game like henry did for us so many times, on the other hand 25 million for benzema and another 25 on his wages? i think not.

“company” he thinks he’s Steve Jobs. Let the board decide the funds Wenger, if they have 100mil to spend, bloody spend it. You’re the manager, its your responsibility for developing the senior squad and winning us trophies, not our accountant.
I seriously think we need someone on the board to put Wenger in his place, I was hoping a takeover might encourage more influence on the pitch and transfer policies. Even thats a mess right now.

This Bastrd AW is going to ruin us further…what I can feel is that he is making the ground ready for not signing quality players…wht the fck is this everytime that this buffoon talks about playing responsibly… Is he God’s messiah or is he God’s gift to mankind that suddenly we feel angelic,
I know there would be a handful of his lickers who would still swear by this mug-head donkey…
AW is a disaster… he is ruining our beloved club…

Some of what AW says is correct. Some of what is writtrn above is also correct. A player’s true cost must include his wages over the length of the contract in addition to his transfer fee. That said we have players clearly surplus to requirements who would generate not only substantial transfer income, but also free up wages as well.Arshavin(£12m if sold to Zenit),Rosicky (£4m if sold to Germany)Clichy(£8m),Denilson(£3m)and Bendtner(£5M) are all realistically priced and would generate £32m in total. In addition I believe they could save the club £250K in wages per week or £13m in season 1. Surely this would represent at least 3 excellent players next season, without taking either Nasri or Fabregas into the ewquation. This is where we hope AW is a bit more forward thinking. By all means play within the boundaries of the new financial fair play rules but use them to our advantage. Be more ruthless and clearout the deadwood at the earliest possible opportunity. If that means taking in less in transfer fees at least it gets them (and their wages off the books.

I think Wenger does an amazing job. People who want him out should consider the alternative. Someone like Marinho who will plunge us into debt with massive signings. Or someone who has little experience in the premiership. Wenger has built the side we have now and i think we should leave him to his own devices. Yes we need new blood but not the crazy players you lot are saying. Moving Vermaelen to LB! That’s insane! He’s nowhere near quick enough. I agree scrap clichy, he’s always the one that fucks up the offside traps and the one big teams target as a weakness. GET RID OF squillaci. He’s a whole new level of shite! A mistake wenger must admit too by selling him. Let Denilson go, dead weight. Along with Bendter. Buy players like Hazard if possible. New goalkeeper! Defs keep Arshavin, look at the stats on him last season. He created so much. Do not move walcott to CF because that would destroy the 4-3-3 we’ve been working on for a number of seasons! Plus what about Chamalk! We have not seen the best of him yet. We just need pepping up with some solid signings. Get rid of players who don’t do anything when they play, and the budget will balance out, we will lose of our budget but we will defs make up for it with the winnings from the next season.

What Wenger says is true – we cannot compete finacially with Chelsea and Man City but then no Arsenal fans expects us to. However, just because we can’t spend £50,000,000 on a player doesn’t mean we have to endure years of Almunia, Fabianski, Eboue, Denilson, Diaby, Rosicky, Bendtner etc. That’s my gripe – every manager, even SAF, make bad signings; the difference is Wenger refuses to move them on quickly eg. Senderos!
Also, look at how cheaply Everton snap up Championship players – Lescott, Jaglielka, Cahill whilst we scour the continent for the likes of Squillaci. Wenger needs to start at the talent in England not just overseas.

Told u this old useless idiotic manager aint planning any major changes in the summer. Okay fine we cannot compete with the clubs that do not follow the rules and that means those clubs will get the better players and will in turn win the trophies as a reward for their not following of the rules. So pliz Arsene save us all and do not lie to us about Arsenal being a big club that has trophy ambitions. Come out clearly and tell the fans that your realistic target each year is to finish 4th and fatten your Board’s bank accounts! Moron!
