Wenger – QPR are a quality team

Arsene Wenger watched his Arsenal team struggle to break down bottom-of-the-table QPR after a rollercoaster week for the club in which they lost two games and got a rollicking from the fans at the yearly AGM, but the Frenchman insists that yesterdays opponents were a quality side that won’t be in the relegation positiions for much longer.

Arsenal only managed to break down QPR in the last minutes of the game after our tiny neighbours were reduced to ten men by the sending off of Stephane Mbia , and you could hear the relief in Wenger’s voice at the end of the game when he said: “I am very happy with the result because we lost two big games in our head, and the confidence was a bit jaded. We were serious, we moved the ball quite well and we needed to be patient today. It is a QPR team with quality, I don’t think they will stay at the bottom of the league.

“It was important not to make a mistake, and wait for our chance and take it. We were a bit lucky that they lost a player, because it made it easier for us in the last 20 minutes. But overall we played a serious game against a good team.”

But whatever the quality of our opponents the fact is that Arsenal have moved back up to fourth place until this afternoon and our season is far from over, but we will have to improve even further if we are to get some more points next week against Manchester United, who may be just a touch trickier than yesterday’s opponents….

Its really a worry if QPR is considered similar ‘Quality’ in arsene’s current standard. We need triangles & one touch forward, not 1 touch sides & back. Put arshavin at best positions to cross. Training focus also on set pieces, ESP losing points & allowing goals. Too long going unmanaged in that area though Bould has improved defense from 2 to 5, out of 10. Too frustrated last 4 years when critical & alarming to change & improve but little done. Losing well groomed protégés didn’t help either. Time to load off deadwoods, but make sure keep theo & arshavin. When played at right times, roles & positions, thy are clinical. Need confident & clever finisher, defender in Jan. What u think?

In fairness qpr are a decent team with quality players: julio cesear, cisse etc and so i think we got what we deserved but we need to get the team working well consistently and in set postiions becaause it seems like half of our team has played striker this sesean.

Opinions divided. What do you think? Thumb up 4 Thumb down 10

Who is wenger kidding we were rubbish against QPR. He keeps picking his blue eyed boy ramsey on the wing whilst forgetting he has real wingers. Walcot, gervinho,ox did this last week both games. Poldolski not a winger either which gives us no.pace at all to get behind defences.Ramsey i am sorry son you are rubbish and technically not good enough for the premier league. If he keeps picking him we will never have a chance. Carzolas had a few shocking games and needs to get back to where he was prior to the international break. On a positive note was nice to see jack back in team. Good luck to him. Wenger you need to.pick the right team so hurry up and do that. Nuff said!

  10. arsenal sucks

I think this would be our best formation:

    Szeznsny

    Sagna mertersacker vermaelen gibbs

    Arteta

    Wilshere Diaby

    Cazorla podolski

    Giroud

*cazorla can cut in to influence play sometimes (like iniesta does for barca) and he’s also a good crosser so giroud would get good service
*whenever we need pace on the wings we throw in walcott and chambo
*i think this is a well balanced formation both defensively and offensively
*our midfield would would be the best in the league

I also think wenger should try to sign cavani he is a really good striker. And fellaini would also be a great addition to our great midfield! Imagine a midfield of wilshere, arteta and fellaini:”’D !!! A new experienced lb who can also play cb would be appreciated because santos isn’t good enough!

    What do u guys think?

    @Malik

Actually it’ll be better for Arsenal if Man Utd and Chelsea draw. That means it slows both of them down.

its a pity the return of Sagna will see Jenkinson rotting at the bench…no more England call up and further improvement

Never mind about other teams and let us concentrate on our games. The match against Man U will be hugely important, to Arsenal but unfortunately I can’t see us winning it. I hope I am terribly wrong!!

Sagna presence helps Jeckinson who was getting burnout and if any is injured the other comes in.What we now need is perfect right winger who can score and make assists (assuming Walcott is leaving. We also need a top defensive player like M’villa if not Wanyama of Celtic because is overworked and when injured we are in problems. An excellent right footed striker-Giroud is left and if possible a CB to cover defense. So wenger should make 4 signings this January and build on the team while offloading those who are idle.

Best case or worst case scenario? We lose at least 10-0 to United – Board and Wenger get fired overnight – Usmanov takes over and brings in Guardiola (or a good/great manager who’s suits Arsenal) and we buy a few world class players and win the quadruple…wishful thinking lol

In dire need of a world class striker. Going to struggle till we get one. Or we change formation! Why wont Wenger change formation so we can get the best out of players like Arshavin and Podolski. That left forward position has been a problem for such a long time. Its all puff and no end product.

As much as it pains me to say, but i think that a win against Man utd would be one of the worst outcomes as it would take all of the pressure of the board and things will go back to normal. The fans will go back to thinking that we’re world beaters, and no one will be bought in Jan. We’ll enter april in thin shape, probably scraping 4th place in may ,when we’ll be labeled as ungrateful if we dare not appreciate and celebrate this achievement. As the summer transfer window opens , our best performers of the season will inevitably attract outside interest (like in 2011- nasir, cesc, 2012-rvp ,song). Carzola and wilshere are likely to be our best performers and the only thing we’ll be doing in the summer is preying that nobody makes a bid for them. If anyone goes,We’ll be told that they chose to left, and we’ll criticize their ethical decision making and call them greedy, while ignoring the fact the hierachy up top will get subsequent increases in remuneration directly because of the subsequent sales. Two years will pass, and the FFP will still not be strictly enforced, and/or by then the billlion air owners would have exploited the loopholes , and we’ll be told by at the AGM that we will need more time to compete. During which time, the club will start taking out dividends, offsetting the money earned from our renewed sponsorships. Anyone who thinks that Kroenke will allow the club to fully exploit its financial muscle on the pitch in 2 years (as alleged) at the expense of lower returns are forgetting that he is a businessman not a sportsmen.

As a much as a belting from the MAN Utd would hurt, it won’t be anything compared to the year’s of pain that we’ll have endure by letting things continue as they are.

I know I’ll get lots of dislikes, but enough is enough and we need something major to happen, and for the owner to realize that it is the fans who grant the club with a license to exist-WE DESERVE TO BE TREATED BETTER!!
