Wenger set to rest players ahead of Bolton in midweek
Arsene Wenger is preparing his Arsenal team to face Aston Villa in tomorrows FA Cup tie, but for the second time this week he has admitted that the midweek game against Bolton in the League is far more important in his eyes.
“I have always told you exactly the same, the priority is be in the top four,” Wenger said yesterday. “In recent years I felt that we produced always the consistency at the top, top level and it is not enough for some people maybe, but for me that is the brand of a top level club – consistency in the top four.’
“I love the FA Cup, I think it is a top-level competition and I will always fight to win it.
“I won it four times and lost one final, and I don’t know how many semi-finals. I always try to win every single competition.
“If you look at my record you will see the FA Cup is important for me. I think our record is better than all of them over the past 15 years. Even last year we went for four trophies. How many teams go for four trophies this season? Nobody.
“We always try to go for everything and for a long, long time last year we went for trophies late in the season, and still we will try to do the same and try to win the FA Cup.”
But Wenger has already complained about the TV companies giving Arsenal one day less to recover before the Bolton game, and has said he will have to pick tomorrows team with one eye on the Bolton game. For sure he won’t be playing a full youth team as he has done in previous years, but there is no way it will be a full strength side either.

I think he should field the strongest team. Aston Villa at this point in time have nothing to lose, so expect that they are going to throw the kitchen sink at the gunners. Our fans need something to cheer about. Give us a convincing win, (oh i miss those days) Too many close calls not good for the heart. We need something like the win at Chelsea, the feel good factor.

Wenger is simply being realistic in saying that a top 4 place is always the target. However much the fans would like some silverware, the basic need for any top class Club is to play in the Champions League each season. It not only brings in essential finance, but is also a vital attraction to players on the Club’s shopping list.

Our squad is so weak that resting TOP players for the match ahead includes Walcott and Ramsey.
Szczesny, Yennaris, Koscielny, Vermaelen, Miquel, Song, Arteta, Rosicky, Arshavin, Park, Alex Oxelaide.
I also want to see Miyaichi come on in the second half along with Henry and if required also Van Persie. I don’t want to see Ramsey or Walcott, even on the bench.

We need to learn to win all games. At the moment we have only learned how to lose well. We need a winning attitude. Another loss against Villa just piles on the pressure. We will go into the Bolton game on the back of four straight wins. By not giving any thought to the cups we lose any chance of a trophy. It’s sad when a manager of your club you have supported for 50 years tells you he don’t care. He has no passion for the job so how can the players get any motivation. Look at his attitude and look at Martin O’neil. I think I know who I would want at the head of my club right now.

Wake up some of you, dropping out of the top four and winning the FA Cup would still be a disaster because it would be incredibly difficult to get back into the top four. I’m not saying a trophy isn’t important or that we shouldn’t aim for both but this is not a good season so far and the main thing is not to fall out of the group representing the elite clubs of English football. Can none of you see that ?

Making top four and getting the money bonus does not help the Arsenal cause whatsoever. I blame the owner mostly, who will take like 90% of all money gained anyways. He’s tryna make a profit outta this club, and Wenger needs to pressure the owner more and ask for money. They receive more money each year from selling than they do from buying….need to change.
