Wenger to gamble on playing Van Persie against Man City
Arsene Wenger is facing a second match on Tuesday against Man City just three days after the 1-1 draw with Fulham. After that match the Arsenal boss admitted that tiredness and fatigue was affecting some of his stars, including Van Persie, but now he has declared that he will have to take a gamble on playing with the prolific Dutchman.
He said: “We are reliant on Robin, of course, because he scores many goals. That’s what you want from your strikers.
“Against City, I will certainly play some players who have played less. But still we will try to have a good mixture between young players and experience so we have a good chance to win the game.
“With players like van Persie you have to accept the gamble and the risk.
“We had periods with Thierry Henry going through stages like this, it’s the same.
“Risk is part of the game and enjoyment demands risk. You have to just play full through it and that’s life.”
Man City played at Liverpool yesterday so Mancini will also have to decide whether to risk senior players just two days later, but with Arsenal desperate to win any trophy I think that Wenger will play with the more experienced team out of the two.
It would also please Arsene to keep the Gunners unbeaten run going just a little bit longer……

@twig arsene would not change the formation from 4 3 3 its likely that park is gonna start against wigan and he won’t be going with that many attacking players against city good lineup for a 4 4 2 though

Either way, we need to keep our good form going strong, a mix of experience and new players will help, but let it not be at the expence of the Wigan game ahead of us, lets not underestimate Wigan also, though Mancini has a wide range of choices, he’s team can never ever match our footballing style, n then we strike, 2-1 win against City

just give the reserve team play n show what they can do.. Rest the best eleven.. Our focus now on top four to qualify champ league.. I dont think be have a chance on carling cup n fa cup. Wenger, this is the exact reason why you need to sign another world class striker in Jan. Who are we supposed to rely on scoring now? Chamakh? Park? Park maybe, but still too inexperienced. I would still play RvP, because let’s face it with a weaker squad we cannot beat City.

avoid this cup and rest players for up coming games. What big value if the limited squad is held at ransom of winning games even when there is news that some of the key players are in the red. Don’t blame lady luck for misfortunes we have. Please wenger be the usual person who tries to give the young something to prove for us to see who will be the next song next. let us face reality, tottenham is winning b’se of using one team in premier not that they are to strong.

Why kil ourselves over this game? Beating City doesnt even guarantee we will win the cup as all the m ajor teams are still in it unlike last year. IMO the team picks itself: Mannone (k); Djorou (rb), Kos n Squillaci (cd), Miguel (lb), Diaby n Coquelin (dm), Benayoun (attacking midfielder), Ox, Park n Arshavin (attack).

Ridiculous, Wenger said this before the Fulham game and not after it!! Just don’t bring up stories. Wenger has pretty much said that RVP and Theo are on the ‘red’ and no doubt they’ll be rested. What is the need to create panic by saying Wenger is going to play RVP?

Forget about winning anything, if our players are tired and fatigued now and we don’t rotate, we will end up with the problems we encountered last season. From a position of strength in four competitions we slumped and ended up just holding on to our fourth place. If we have a large squad,as Arsene has said, we must rotate. I know many will say, “We have to beat so and so, if we are going to win a trophy” That’s very true but if we are to be successful we must use the whole squad and take chances in at least one of the competitions. Paul Merson said earlier in the season that Manshity’s second team was better than our first team. At the time he might have been right but there is a more winning attitude in the whole of our team now and I feel that with a mixture of experience and youth, we could take the Mercenaries on and beat them, no matter who they play. So come on Arsenal let’s not burn our best eleven out. Rotate and give the other’s a chance to prove themselves.

lets all no that trophy is necessary in arsenal right now…because that was the promise he gave to the club…if playing against MAN-CITY ‘ll be a day of ‘thinking’ of what to do, then you are not ready to win any game ..or trophy..
they are not better than arsenal…of course ..so why ”shivering” over this match…
let the fans no that if wenger looses this match it gonna be a shame to the arsenal fans, the board as well, and the manager…
why not put all our effort on this up-coming game…rather than ”thinking”….or even attaining fear to the fans …even the players as well….

Wenger said Vermalean Walcott Van Persie and Ramsey are in the red zone. He never said he will start van persie even though he said we rely on him for goals he never said he would start. Manchini is going to change his side and play players like Kolo Toure, Owen Hargeeves,Adam Johnson and not Silva,Aguero,Nasri. This is a big game and big names should start but do we really want to ruin our top 4 chances with van persie risking injury in a cup competion that Wenger didnt take seriously till last year.

To be honest that should be played. Maybe rest Djourou and play Kosielny there and play Miquel CB. If Diaby is fit enough he should start. This is basically a 2nd 11 but with there team defensive wise this could get us through.
I believe out attack there wont be strong enough to get more then 1 goal unless we bring van persie walcott on. I really want us to play a strong team but we just cant with the injurys risking.
Luckily City wont play a starting 11 as they played yesterday
