Wenger – Van Persie is not our only goalscorer (I hope!)
Arsene Wenger is adamant that the other Arsenal strikers will end up scoring goals, whether Robin Van Persie carries on his phenomenal form or not, although at the moment it seems that the Dutchman is the only one that is winning games for the Gunners this season.
“At the moment I can’t deny that we rely on him for goals,” Wenger said. “But I believe that the likes of Gervinho, Aaron Ramsey and Theo Walcott can score goals and I believe they will,”
“They can score goals, I am am completely confident of that. And they will score. At the moment Robin is always on the end of things. I think he will continue but I also think it will change that the other players will score goals as well.”
I don’t know about Gervinho, Walcott and Ramsey, but Vermaelen got a couple last weekend!
But it is a fact that somebody will have to start scoring soon, as there is no way that Super Robin can carry on playing two games a week right to the end of the season. And I wonder why he said Ramsey but not Park…..

Yes other players can score goals too but we are talking of match winning goals.our prayer focus now shuld be dat robin does’nt get injured or drop form bcos i dont see any striker in d team geting us those important goals.is it chamack or who?.2 be on a safer side,wengar shuld go 4 another deadly striker in january.

We may only have 1 reliable striker but by no means does that make us a 1 man team! The rest of the boys have been putting in some decent performances so I’m sure others will start getin some goals soon. I stil think it wud b naïve to not buy a back-up striker in january though

Gervinho looks so close to scoring a goal almost every game, I think the time is not far when he actually will score…and keep scoring ‘regularly’.
Things will straighten up very soon I believe and will see more ppl on the score sheet.
Nonetheless, adding one more quality stiker on the squad in January is a ‘must’.

Once Gervinho brushes up on his finishing, we’ll be unstoppable. I mean, that guy gets into amazing positions, but doesn’t have the killer touch. If he finds his form, then him and Van Persie would be kicking ass every single game.

In evry team dey av a consistent striker,messi is 2 barca,ronaldo 4 madrid,henry 1ns did it 4 us nd now rvp is doin it.lets just hope he dsnt get injured.

we play with a lone striker and his job is to score so what’s the fuzz about being a “one man team”?
first our problem was the defence but this seems to be solved. we should not create another issue where there is none.

my boys are realy gud, except from our oda 2 strikers wel i do fil park hasn blend wit the team but chamakh is a slump, even our young striker like ben afobe kud score goals dan chamakh. Wel we nid 2 get moussa sow or gotze i believe those could blend easily…

We all agree we need one hell of a signing in Jan. Not just in case RvP gets injured, but also to show him and others like Theo, Song, Szczesny that Arsene wants to start winning some silverware. This would push them to extend their contracts, as we all know RvP and Walcott’s contracts are coming to and end, and let’s be frank here we need them both, more so than we did Fab and Nas to start winning silverware. Walcott is a rare talent, and RvP, well what can we say…I don’t see him losing form anytime soon. We cannot afford for Barca, City, Milan to snatch them out of our hands.
So Wenger and board, let’s loosen those coin purses a bit and splash out on this much needed striker in Jan. With young guns looking so promising, and if we land the right striker in Jan, we could be a top, if not THE top team for the next decade or more.

Max I think it is an issue. The squad is fantastic but RvP pulls everything together by being the one to put the ball in the net when most of the others are struggling to score. I think Podolski is required because he can play on the wing. If you buy another striker to sit on the bench for 90% of games they probably won’t be sharp when they do play. That’s why you need a genuine CF who can get match practise on the wings. Only problem being the squad starts to look a bit packed with wingers. It could mean the end of Andrei if Podolski comes unfortunately. I never pictured Podolski as a winger but whenever i read about him it says that he’s effective there, much more so than Nik B i’m sure.

For anyone who doesn’t know about Podolski let me say 43 goals in 95 internationals for Germany and at his peak (26yo).

The headline RVP is not our only goalscorer is statistically correct but we all know that RVP scores 80 percent or more of them.
We need a strikeR but we will not get one. Wenger is already working the spin to have you believe that we dont need one.
Why he needs to be so tight is beyond me..why risk champs league qualification *(costing 30 million if we dont make it), on hoping that RVP stays fit and also hoping(as there is no proof yet)that the likes of the impotent gervinho and a midfield player like the superb ramsey can make up for the potentiaL Loss of the prolific RVP?????
chamakh and park are not in RVPs class, so not many goals there. Get busy in january wenger do your F+++++++ JOB PROPERLY

I prefer Marco Reus in front of Podolski unless we get him for a cheaper price.
Also if we want a striker Papiss Cisse/Giroud would be better than Podolski.

We are not denying the fact that Gervino, Theo or others can score goals but how many of them can be as clinical as R V P, i mean goals in an important matches? I believe RVP is the only RELIABLE striker we have and i will keep fasting and praying for him against injury. any injury will spell doom and that will be over for the season unless Arsene is wise now and buy Podolski in january
