Wenger – Van Persie will leave if Arsenal don’t fight for title
The record-breaking Arsenal striker Robin Van Persie is refusing to talk about any contract extension at the Emirates until next summer, and up until now Wenger has merely commented that he is sure the Dutch international will re-sign in the end.
But now he has revealed that Van Persie won’t sign unless Arsenal show ambition, and also the Gunners need to be fighting for the Premiership title by the end of the season.
Wenger was directly asked what Arsenal needed to do to keep their captain at the club next season, and he replied: “Continue to improve and be capable to fight for the top of the league. Robin is an ambitious player and when you have his quality of course you want him to do that.
“If you look at the run of all of the teams from games five to 19 we are not behind anybody so, if we can continue to improve and get our injured players back, we might have a strong enough squad.”
At least Arsenal fans now know the terms set by Van Persie, and probably Fabregas and Nasri last season too. Let’s hope we can carry on our fantasic run and get right back up the top of the table. For Robin’s sake!

Which means RVP wants AW to sign heavy-weighted player to boost squad. IMO, we will at least have another two very interesting additions apart from henry in january. One left back and one striker! both of them shall be proven players!

if we buy a podolski and 1 other top quality player,w in with a shout ov title, utd aint luking brilliant, city stuterring….we need to act quicly though….and we need to start giving the ox and park a chance, they would be more effective than arshavin and bendayoun.

we will only have a strong enough squad if Wenger plans ahead when it comes to injuries. We cannot continue to rely on the fitness of the ever-absent Diaby and Gibbs.

That’s what I thought. Show the invincibles Ambition. It is not like Arsenal does not have money, not using them and letting star players leave is really very very pitiful. Don’t go to that stage.

We have to take our destiny by our hands, we need to buy a striker of podoski calibre cos henry is a temporary option and buy a defender of vertoghen calibre cos you cannot depend so much on the injured players availability.

We need at least one half-back, ideally two (one right, one left), on loan. We need one striker that can score, maybe another winger to add more pressure to walcott and gervinho that don’t seem to score often enough. Though we have many midfielders, we still need 1 or 2 more incisive midfielders, that can score, we only have arteta that can score on a regular basis, and two over 31. We also sometimes lack the creativity we had in our passes that was there when cesc and nasri were still there and arshavin didn’t play with his fingers up in his arse.
If we get those, we cvan fight for the title and have a chance at re-signing van persie. Without those, we can only hope to fight for the top 4 and live with the prospect of losing both walcott and RVP in the summer.

I believe RVP’s decision will be based on Wenger’s winter transfer dealings. The club has to show RVP ambition and sign some quality talent. Robin wants to stay in Arsenal and we should do everything we can to protect this. If we can sign 3 quality players and really fight for the title, then we’re in good stead. I don’t believe we’re out of the title race. After the last 2 weeks of EPL results, anything can happen.

The transfer and loan business is a bit beyound me.
Two clubs agree to a transfer or loan with the players blessing, all is legal and above board, insurance sorted, then in steps this”international clearance” bit, another bunch of bureaucrats with more pieces of paper to stuff up the works. Signs of the modern times I suppose!

We can hang in and fight till the last game of the season and win. City are crumbling, Chelsea’s old men are all over the hill, Rooney is on the outs with Old bacon face and Spuds… Don’t make me laugh. Cut the ever injured dead weight taking up space on the roster and $$$$ that could be better spent. RVP wants Gazidis and Wenger to show him something with dome quality signings in Jan. Do It Wenger!!!!!!

I heard arsenal could sign Dortmund phenom Mario gotze for around 25 million and Dortmund cb mats hummells for 18 million moussaka sow, podolski, and an outside chance at Eden hazard but that is unlikely because it looks like Lille will only part with him for 35 million and wenger us way to cheap to do that even though I’m sure they have the money ( from the fabregas and nasty sales(

I would be thrilled to c AW bringing some stars to the arsenal squad. But I am really frustrated as arsenal fan to hear AW’s monotonous words ” We have players coming back from injury”. I wish all arsenal players can play the whole season without injury, but is it realistic, obviously no, So please Prof. Wenger try to assure we the fans and ur dedicated players u have the ambition to win and the only way u can do this is by signing quality players (one left back, one attacking midfielder and of course one forward attack)

Dear Wenger,
Its only a fool that doesnt learn from the past mistakes. By postphoning contract negotiation, RVP is simply telling you to show ambition by adding some strength into the team.
Its good you have already noted it .AW, Should you fail to take the right decision/action, you stand to be blamed.

Well i can tell u nobody is bigger than the club ,not van persie, nor fabregas etc.,but aswell the board and people who say arsenals target is to finish 4th cause thats what they said ,i mean u cannot blame the top stars if they leave but it seems that for them the grass is indeed greener at the other side,if u look at the past hardly any player played better than he did for arsenal .
You know i understand what fabregas said u know the whole atmoshpere at the club was like gettting down cause nowadays there are hardly any big names left at the club ,when fabregas came he had to proof himself and had to pull out the very best to get in the squad now with every respect if u show a little bit of consistency u are almost a regular starter , i mean if ure good enough age doesnt matter but u can destroy that atmosphere of players really want to fight and get the best out of each other ,
i know van persie wont leave because of momey or because he is arrogant but , if we dont place ourselfs for the cl and end every year 4th in league or even worse than players will ask theirself some questions he is 28 and has couple of more years at the top level left so wenga sort it out u can bring in the talents but u know just maintain that topclub level atmoshpere and players will come and stay

Pls AW buy more proven players.I mean not lyk de gea(£24m and doesn’t know how 2 defend a corner)overrated by manure fans.Ramsey has 2 stop giving away ball to opponents.Arteta should start shooting from outside 18.Djourou is not our material. This guy has been playing 4 us since 2006 but still can’t improve.Give ox a chance.Koscielny is improving every day.I lyk him alot.He is very courageous and got determination.lets fight 2 day and collect all the 3 points

I think we’re all familiar with the current Arsenal board; it will be far cheaper to sell RVP and get rid of his wage and promote a youth striker or some such thing then buy two or three high quality players and double his wage. You only have to look at the Nasri debacle. Very sad and disgraceful but true. I do hope he signs a new but I won’t be getting my hopes up too high.

RVP deserves better, an honest chase for the premier league title. Arsenal wont be able to challenge for the trophy with Man city, Man utd Chelseas (EVEN THOUGH CHELSEA
ARE SHIT!)etc. Right now Arsenal are only content with
a top 4 finish. Its more of a desire to finish in the top 4 than a dream to play in the champions league.
I think AFC wont win the prem in a few years. And RVP does not have that long left to wait. He deserves better, a team that can provide a trophy season in season out.
JUST MY OPINION!

i agree with the analysis of many other fans on here. Its crystal clear what needs to be done. Wenger needs to act big in the transfer market. RVP isnt going to waste his remarkable talent in a team of too many average players. We need a striker a top goal-scoring create midfielder and a solid reliable tough inspirational centre back. If we can challenge for a trophy or 2 then RVP will stay…if wenger dithers and wont buy quality, then RVP will follow cesc and nasri. For me nasri left for trophies not money..thats just a wenger cop-out….another spin which he is now well-known for.

You could not blame RVP he has given his all this season.
Now it is up to Mr Wenger to show his ambition and desire for success for Arsenal football club.
Mr Wenger must now fight to keep players like RVP, he must
buy some Quality players in this window. If he does his usual by looking for CHEAP or players on a free transfer to fill the crack’s he will lose RVP and a few more like him.I don’t hold out to much hope that Mr Wenger will buy what we need, I think he will take the Cheap option. If he does and we lose RVP, and a few more of our top players. Then Mr Wenger must go himself for the good of Arsenal football club.

Well at least Wenger seems to understand why his best players want to leave. The question is, is he prepared to do what’s necessary in the transfer market to compete for the title and more importantly will the board back him with cash. I hope so but history is against him. I am sick of hearing how “this squad is good enough to win the league” when its obvious to all but the most blinkered deluded AKB’s that it isn’t and therefore hasn’t for 7 years.

Sam get a grip. Arsenal made 22m in the summer. That doesn’t even cover the cost of Gotze. Let alone spending a further 18m on hummels and 35m on hazard then 10m on podolski/sow you’re off your rocker mate.

So Basically, Van Persie is off then !!.
Lets be honest, based on Arsenals recent transfers, we have no ambition, and after todays showing at Fulham, Walcott couldnt hit a barn door, and Gervinho wasnt much better!!
We need World-class signings now, if that doesnt happen, Van Persie will be off in the summer, then we become a team fighting for Europa league places..
Come On Wenger and the board, get a grip, stop treating the fans like idiots, and bring some quality into the team to replace the quality players who have left

Well last night was a disaster. All the good work against QPR undone in 6 minutes.
RVP will leave if we don’t show ambition and unfortunately for us, MONEY TALKS.
Get in players to show ambition. Get Gotze and Hazard.
Otherwise wave bye bye to RVP.

Failing to offload deadwood like Squilacci, Almunia, Fabianski, Vito Manone, Denilson, Diably, Rosicky and Peter Hillwood will cause us dearly. Besides that, fail to bring in a top striker until the end of the season will also cause us badly. The same goes to full back.
Get players like Podolski, Higuin, Baines, Cissokho, Taiwo, Hazard, Gotze, Vertoghen or Eriksen then it is easier to talk to RVP.

Pers has been a massive disappointment so far. I have yet to see him command the box like any of the other CBs. He seems to be hesitant slow and leaves all the works for the other CBs most of the time. Is it the pace of the game or is he the new defensive flop?
We have an entire squad that has not played yet. Chamberlain, Park, Coquelin, Lansbury, Wellington, Vela, Ashravin, Miquel, Sanchez Watt, Bartley. They all offer something different and just require a different formation for them to be successful. Not everyone can play in the 4-3-3 system Wenger insists on playing. The current midfield offers nothing in the box at all.
Who could argue against Vertoghen and Podolski though?

This is a message to everyone who thinks that nasri left for money, and don’t get me wrong I hate him too. However, if you as a player you see the clubs captain and best left back on the verge of leaving and know of no quality replacements coming in and you see another club is in for you with real quality, ambition and willing to spend on the players necessary. Well I think you would leave I would have, albeit, in a different fashion and I would have slammed the board in the process but not the fans, yes money influenced his judgement slightly but not as much as everyone is talking about.

Van in my view is justified in wanting to leave Asernal Fc with its backward policies on players which has made it fail to win any trophy in the last six years and is still going to continue like that. Van wants trorpies and not just money. That means that AW should buy another quality striker, a quality defender and offload all dead woods like SQUALLACE, Bentiner,ARSERVIN, DIABY,ROSCIKY and ALMUNIA

Am happy Wenger know what it needs to convince Robin to sign. Am happy he knows that greed is not the condition as the case of Nasri. How do we keep winning if top quality players are not coming in,if we wait till last day of transfer before bringing in available players instead of targeted players, what is our bench like, what is the possibility of making top four in this keenly contested season, how do we convince RVP to commit to arsenal after seven seasons with nothing to display as medal and yet no evidence of seriousness for challenges than promises? Am scared of arsenal not making top four and ultimately loosing RVP after Fabregas and Nasri. Is left for Wenger to fix things and take the club to its supposed position.I hate delay, speculation, procastination, stubborness and above all, stinginess. If we cannot stand teams like Wolve,Blackburn and Fulham then we forget the competition for the league champion or top four position.
