Wenger – Van Persie won’t be rested against QPR
Robin Van Persie is to given one more chance to break Alan Shearers record of goals scored in a single calendar year today when Arsenal face QPR at the Emirates.
Under normal circumstances I am sure that Arsene Wenger wouldn’t risk playing his (previously) injury-prone captain so soon after the Wolves game, but the Frenchman has stated that he will assess Van Persie’s fitness after the match against their newly-promoted London rivals.
Wenger said: “It will be difficult,”
“He will play tomorrow, then we will assess the situation with him on Sunday and Monday morning and make a decision.
“I don’t rule it out but he’s one of the players who has played a lot and you see again, against Wolves on Tuesday, he’s the guy who gives absolutely everything in every game at the moment.
“He knows, ‘I have to score’, so he’s always on the fringe of pushing himself. Let’s hope he can get through the next two games.”
By then, hopefully, all the details of Thierry Henry’s loan period will be sorted out and the Flying Dutchman can gain a well-earned rest. We can always hope that Robin scores three goals in the first 15 minutes of this afternoons game and Wenger can take him off early so he is fresh to face Fulham…..

robin needs about 3 goals to break alan’s record but wenger and henry are taking us for fools and i’m more than surprised that henry was bought to help wenger in his quest for not buying players. spurs for sure are finishing above us in the table for sure and fourth position isn’t ours.
