Wenger – We’ve lost Nasri and Ramsey, we can’t afford to lose Cesc too!

The Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger praised the contribution of his captain Cesc Fabregas in the 2-0 win over Bolton yesterday, as he returned to the side after missing three games through injury, and said that he couldn’t explain how important Fabregas is to his team.

“If you watch the game today it is difficult to say how much but you don’t have to explain that it is important.” Wenger said.

But he bemoaned the fact that, yet again, Arsenal’s injury jinx has struck again in training last week, and Wenger has lost another two midfielders just as Fabregas returned to the team.

“Nasri was injured in the final minute of training and he has a hamstring strain and Aaron Ramsey has a thigh problem,” added Wenger.

“The injury is high up on his thigh but I think it is short term.”

With a crucial run of games coming up against Aston Villa, Man Utd, Liverpool and Chelsea, Wenger couldn’t stress how important it was that they didn’t lose his captain as well.

“In the last 48 hours we lost Aaron Ramsey and Sami Nasri to injuries and we now go into a period where every game becomes very, very important. For us it is important not to lose any more players and especially Fabregas because he is just coming back now. We survived okay when he wasn’t there but in the period coming up now where we have so many big games it is important to have him.”

Wenger is also hopeful of having Nicklas Bendtner and Theo Walcott back in the squad in a couple of weeks. Oh if only we could have an injury-free team, we would win the title easily!

Wenger must e getting used to the injury problems because he even cracked a joke about it: “I am very short in midfield at the moment so even I am trying to practise at the moment,”

Now that would be an interesting picture!
