Why Vela didn’t go to Bolton, despite the deal being agreed….
The news broke yesterday in all the Arsenal Blogs that Carlos Vela was set to follow in the footsteps of Jack Wilshere by spending the second half of the season playing at Bolton under Owen Coyle, but, despite an agreement in place and ready to sign, Vela eventually ended up signing for West Brom.
Well today the Bolton News has revealed that once the loan amount had been agreed between Arsenal and Bolton, suddenly Vela’s agent, Eduardo Hernández, decided that he wanted a much bigger arrangement fee than originally asked for, and the Bolton management basically told him to get stuffed!
As Arsene Wenger had insisted that Vela stay in the Premier League if he wanted to have a chance of revitalising his Arsenal career, Vela had no choice but to accept the only other English offer on the table which was from West Brom.
Bolton are not having much luck with transfers this week as they were also close to arranging a loan move for Shaun Wright-Phillips as well, but Roberto Mancini has put a block on the move after seeing his young winger Adam Johnson sustain an ankle injury during training at Man City.
Owen Coyle must be pulling his hair out (or whats left of it!) today!

I think it is better him going to West Brom than Bolton. Jack Wilshere went on loan to Bolton, a team who was then in a relagation battle, which helped him. But now Bolton are in the top half of table & are not struggling, whether on the other hand, West Brom are!

Shame he couldn’t have gone to west ham, relegation battlers, in London with only Carlton Cole up front. He would have got a lot mire time on the pitch there

better west brom, coz he would most likley be starting 11 with them
@demongooner
i don’t think its bad to send all of them out on loan coz they needs games to improve, and they can’t make it inot our playing team so we loan them so they get games and improve while we carry on playign with our top squad

Why does an agent get a cut out of a loan agreement and why should he veto a move which has been agreed between one employer to another. Does this mean that every loan deal has to include a fee for the agent?

WBA like to play more of a 4 – 3 – 3. He is also more likely to get games there…

@demongooner No we’re not as the loanees wouldnt get any action. ramsey should have started the first leeds game and he didnt, nor any of the ipswich games, so might as well let him get some time elsewhere. vela should have been loaned out last yr too. the only disappointing fact is that most of our young ones get loaned to championship sides, while Man U get their best young ones to Prem sides.
Mannone is the only one id like to have back so Almunia could leave

its better he didnt go bolton, they couldn’t pay token fee for Vela and they want us to pay 20mil for Cahil, they are stupid. what goes around comes around. good one lad. nice move.

Vela made the right choice and i believe it is better for us to loan out our players so they can use such clubs as a platform to garner experience even if only in EPL.

These loan deals and in fact all transfer deals appear to be more complex than most of us understand. You would have thought that the parent club ,along with the loan club, would only need the players approval and an agreed financial arrangement for the transfer to take place. That is until Mr Greedy steps in (the agent). Just who does control players these days, the club who pays the wages or the jackal who scavenges for money?
