Will Denilson return mean the end for Diaby?

Will Diaby be dropped?
The Arsenal midfielder Abou Diaby scored again in Arsenal’s 4-1 win over AZ Alkmaar in the Champions League, but with Denilson and Walcott expected to return to the squad in the next couple of weeks, does that mean Diaby will be resigned to the bench yet again?
Arsene Wenger said today: “From last night we did not lose anybody,” Wenger told Arsenal TV Online.
“But I don’t think anyone will be back. It seems a bit short for Carlos Vela and Armand Traore.
“Denilson will be back in training during the second week of the international break. Theo Walcott one week later.”
Diaby has scored a few good goals for Arsenal during his run in the first team, but Wenger said yesterday that he would like him to try and defend more rather than look for attacking opportunities.
The French coach said: “He is attracted like a magnet to the opposition goal. I know he would like to play further forward, but I think in the future he will play a deeper role, just in front of the defence.”
Arsenal’s attacking style this season means they have scored lots of goals, but they have also left holes at the back meaning they have conceded more than last season too.
Will Wenger try and tighten things up at the back by replacing Diaby with Denilson when he is fully fit?
Gibbs – I don’t deserve World Cup spot yet!
Diaby – It’s been difficult but i’m stronger now
Fran Merida to join Atletico Madrid?
Wenger – I am worried that Gibbs will have to play every game

nasri`s return should relegate both of them to the bench
personally i don!t think denilson!s return will relegate diaby to the bench.denilson act as a better cover to the defence b!cos he knows when to attack and when to defend, when to bring a player down and when not but with diaby!s height he offers to the team ability to defend set pieces and to score from set pieces
LOOK,IM NOT SAYING DIABY HAS SET THE PLACE A LIGHT BUT HE’S BETTER THAN DENILSON.HONESTLY I DONT THINK DENILSON IS GOOD ENOUGH FOR THE ARSENAL.HE SHOULD BE SOLD OR SOMETHING.I HATE WHEN HES IN THE SQUAD.HE ADDS NOTHING,CANT RUN,DOESNT TACKLE,NOT A GOOD PASSER.WHAT THE F,,K DOES HE ADD?ZILCH
shayne he adds a bit more defense in him when playing with cesc whereas cesc is attack minded denilson is more defensive but attacks a few times only if cesc is back, he really does know when to foul someone on the coutner attack against us and when not too, but if i be honest i cant see him getting infront of diaby, nasri when they are both on form because of their strength, pace, vision, technique the list goes on. denilson i like him but i cant see him taking their place to be honest i think he is their back ups but hey who knows what can happen in football nowadays specially the way man utd are playing nowadays lol dont forget liverfools too
Denilson can stabilise the team defensively compared to diaby.
That said last night diaby played much better defensively and if he can keep that up then I dont think denilson will get his place back for a while, partly because I think wenger has a soft spot for diaby.
Nasri could possibly do a better job than both of them, but I think wenger prefers to make use of his attacking talents, putting him further forward. That might be a wise choice, but I would also like those forward spaces to be a bit more open to youngsters like merida..
Its not really important if denilson can regain a regular starting place, he will be needed in the coming months, especially during the AFC, so we should just be glad he’s on his way back
Yes its either nasri or denilson alongside Song for me. Diaby is attack minded and not suitable to play as a defensive player. Further more though he is tall, he does not really know how to use his height well. He scores own goal with his head as well.
If diaby is to deputise for song as the DM during song’s absence in Jan 2010, then our title track and CL run would all halt, simply because denilson is not a good DM at all.
i think Abou Diaby should b given more chance to prove himeselve considering his last performance against Az. othewise he should sit and watch what he is suppose to be doing in the pich.
Obviously Diaby has been given a lot of time in the middle because he is being groomed to play a key defensive role during the month of January, assuming he stays fit, together with Denilson. The latter is already accustomed to that role, but I dont think the same can be said with Diaby, hence the need to help him familiarize with defensive responsibilities. In that respect the idea of comparing the two with Nasri does not arise.
To be honest all players are good as Diaby has improoved
this time around even on my comparison Denilson is still
better little than Diaby, but it will be fantastick if the
professor keep playing both on different game so that no one will lose form, but my first choice will be Denilson.
will thank God that Denilson and theo walcott have come back, the only thing that ,I Want Arsene wenger need to do ,is to use Denilson 4 the frist hav,and use Abou Diaby 4 second hav.thank
Diaby loses the ball too much and commits really sad fouls. he has good pace but leaves big spaces. Denilson plays with more flare, but also loses the ball as well…i’d rather see
RVP
FaB4
Rosicky Arshavin Nasri Walcot
Song
Cl/shy V/leum Gallas Sagna
Manone
Champions league winning, Premier League winning, Fa Cup winning, Carling Cup Winning team ready to Gun you down!!!!!
TAR, you do realise that’s 12 players…?
To me Diaby, along with Eboue, are the most painfull arsenal players to watch. Both can have moments of world class brillance, and then the next time they get the ball it is cancelled out by a soft turnover.
Diaby can be especially frustrating to watch, he tends to overdribble and pass up easy options before getting dispossed far too often. Denilson is much better in that respect. He is more of a pass first player who takes care of the ball, facilitating the talents of the players that should have the ball the most (Fab, RVP, AA23). However I think eventually (maybe by next year) Aaron Ramsey will be playing alongside Fabregas on a regular basis, with Song behind them. You heard it hear first…
I think Denilson is a good cover infront of defence that is the holding midfield role and will be most crucial when Song goes for Afcon in January. Was a bit worried who will stand up for Song during that period, Denilson will get the job done. The midfield didn’t click on Saturday until Song got in all the players in the middle were attack minded and really felt we will be vulnerable in the absence of Song.
I agree with Plevs about Diaby and Eboue ,not consistent enough ,don,t score many goals ,dribble too much ,can,t header ,can,t concentrate for the full 90 minutes plus injury time.Is Denilson the answer ,i don,t think so ,not yet so how about Ramsey ,who should improve dramatically with time ?
Thanks be to God that Denilson is back soon. I have always been frustrated watching Diaby over dribbling where not neccesary, giving mosquito-passes even in front of his own box and irritatingly making blind passes. Arsenal has three baby-ish plays in the names of Diaby, Eboue and Bentiner. the latter is so when he reaches the finishing line. Just as Ihave named them, they can be very good in ten to twenty minutes then they irritate you for the rest of the game.
No one,not even wenger, should ever compare Diaby and Denilson in defensive midfield as well as making accurate passes. Denilson will be the only saviour in that position in the absence of Song.
Diaby needs to play soft games which dont require too much force and defending.
Gunners i agree with those who say Diaby is childish however he has team spirit.Denilson looks more solid and composed compared to Diaby who is so loose and lacks ball protection.I wouldnt agree with those who think Nasri can handle that position simply because he lacks the physical presence to win the balls from much more bigger opponents.
