Will this man be Arsenal’s Number One next season? (video)
The young Polish keeper Wojciech Szczesny has been impressing everyone this season while out on loan at Brentford, and although Bees manager Andy Scott would love him to return next season, it seems that Arsenal have decided to keep him at the Emirates.
Scott said: “We’ve been looking at goalkeepers for a while as we’ve known Wojciech will be going back, and it will be difficult finding someone of a similar standard.”
With all the furore surrounding the performances of both Manuel Almunia and Lukasz Fabianski this season, could Wenger have already lined up Szczesny to be given a chance to prove himself in the first team?
Here is a recent performance for the Bees when he kept Brentford in the game single-handed (Well, with both hands obviously!). Does he look ready to step up?

Will this man be Arsenal's Number One next season? (video) http://bit.ly/dnZk2F
This video tells nothing realy. I do know that this guy has the potential to be one of the best. However.. almunia is imo one of the best shot stoppers in the league. He lets himself down on his command of his box at set pieces and his handling in general. This video shows nothing of that and only shows great shot stopping ability much like almunia.
The best that could happen is how this young lad to be no.2 behind a new signing. Someone class but not too young. We dont want to sit a good young keeper infront of this lad. Buffon to the emirates? That could work nicely.

Everyone is talking this lad up and with good reason but its a big jump from league 1 to the Premiership and he is still only 19 years old.
I would like Wenger to buy David James for the following reasons he is better imo than Alumnia, he is available on a free transfer and he is English.
Maybe Szczency could be No 2 with Fab and Alumnia being released.
Regarding Feb and Alumnia…. Bob Wilson has said techically they have it but you need more to be a top class GK. He was talking about a presence which would cover having a command of your box especially on corners and set pieces plus having a great understanding with the backs unfortunatley our two current GK’s lack both of these and imo will only ever be average GK maybe playing for the likes of a mid table team.
John
Almunia has made many spectacular saves like most Goalkeepers. You could make a video about him and make him seem better than he is. The saves made by Szczesny in the video could easily be on a rare good day. Was Brentford promoted? Thanks Admin for the video on Szczesny’s recent form.
Yes . he is the best young keeper. but he needs time to be a worldclass. and no.1 at emirates. so the ideal would be to buy a 30 year old world class keeper with 5-10m euro. who can serve us next 5 years. then chesny can be our no.1. He should be promoted to no.2 next season. almunia, fabianski should be axed. vito should be no.3 . that would be ideal. the ideal 30 + year old gk will be buffon.
to win the cl or the pl ,we need a truly world class keeper. other wise it will be dream 4 upcoming years. if we dont buy a gk in this summer , then we will conceed agin 40+ goal in pl. and conceeding 40+ goal and wining pl is a more than dream.
i watch both brentford and also the arse.
Szczesny is the best keeper at brentford in the past 40 years – bar none. and this is not just my opinion – he won a poll on the club’s website by a mile.
and the bees have had lots of older international keepers over the years as well as keepers they have sold for decent money too.
he is not just a shot stopper. he bosses the area, comes off his line, catches crosses. the lot. mad? yes, talented? you bet. quality? you bet. arrogant? a bit.
has everything going for him bar experience.
rather than AW buy a top class young(ish) keeper, he needs someone for a couple of years (like james) ’til this boy is ready.
he (Szczesny) will then be the number one Arsenal keeper for ten – fifteen years. and world class too.
and before you say i am off my trolly, i am a cynical old fart who doesn’t say things like this lightly !!!!
I have said this, the boy is top class. He need Buffon, if he is too expensive then David James or Rob Green then in 2-4 years, Szczesny will be as good as the best of them.
Almunia is a good keeper he just has the habit of being shit at various moments.
Hes been given ample time and then some to prove himself. We need a new number 1 next season.
Please bring Buffon or Frey to Emirates!
i thought he was a good keeper but he is like almunia..he does amazing saves but he can;t catch easy shots :/
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6vV7caRLDrw see that video pls
he is not ready for arsenal l think wenger must transfer akifev russian goolkiper not buffon from juve
What about Hart? If Woijcech is that good, will Wenger still go for Hart?
If Akinfeev is a possible target, I will still vote for Hart.
Hart is one year younger and has more experience in the PL.
And he is an English…
Buffon, Green will be good too as a cover on the back for a few years.
Woijcech n Mannone will shine for a long period for us after 3-5years…
Why are so many suggesting being number two would somehow be a good thing for Szczesny? Have you learned nothing from the Fabianski disaster? A young keeper won’t learn anything by sitting on the bench. Szczesny needs to keep playing regularly, another loan would be the best for him.
THANK YOU ERN
let him keep going on on loan and plying his trade; it’s the only way he’ll come good. on a similar note, i feel that, had fabianski been loaned out a few times, he would have been a far better player. i vote for: bring in some quality and experience for next season (i personally like the sound of david james or even buffon), loan out WS and fabianski, and have almunia as a no.2.
he looks good, but I’m a saddo who wants to see some video of him taking crosses, bossing his area etc rather than shot stopping – I think you could make a video like this for almunia and fabianski.
The number of clean sheets for sczesney at Brentford and the rave reports is a good omen
Friends Szczesny can manage to handle the number one shirt at 19 years if Casillas managed to keep it at the same age he can also make it its just giving him confidence. Another young lad your forgetting is Vito Manone he is good compared to our current No one and No Two
Let him stay at Brentwood for a couple of more seasons, and then bring him back. It just makes sense. Why take the risk?
