Will this mistake cost Mannone his place in the Arsenal team?

Time for Almunia to return?
Arsene Wenger kept faith with Vito Mannone against West Ham yesterday, despite Manuel Almunia being back to full fitness, but has the young Italian blown his chance of keeping the spot permanently?
Wenger kept everyone guessing on who he would choose up until the last minute, but most pundits assumed that Almunia would regain his place.
Mannone was considered to be partly responsible for the equalizer scored by AZ Alkmaar in last week’s Champions League match, and now he is being rounded on for yesterday mistake which allowed West Ham back into the game at 2-0 down.
But if we are to be honest, is Almunia much better? When he was in the team at the beginning of the season, Arsenal conceded in every game. At least Mannone kept three clean sheets in a row.
Perhaps Lukas Fabianski should be given his chance of a run in the team? He is probably just as good as the other two, but are ANY of them really good enough or consistent enough to keep the place permanently?
Perhaps Wenger should spend some of those fabled millions he has available to strengthen probably the most important position in the team?

i think it’s time we ended our little experiment with Mannone. He’s performed admirably in patches but has he done enough to justfy being No.1? The answer would be no in my opinion. I think he’s inexperience showed with that mistake yesterday.it was a simple save but he got it all wrong. The Don will no doubt have his day in the future but i dont think he’s ready just yet.

enuf of the guy though he shudnt be blamed bt he shud go back to the bench is bad has finally surpassed his good. he needs to be playin only in the carlin and fa in front of fab though. hes dullin the morale of those defenders.
Gye bye vito
Almunia has made mistakes this season but so have most other keepers. Foster has been hopeless for Man U and Cech has been a liability on crosses all season, failing against Villa and Stoke.
Almunia was as good as any of the top 4 keepers last season, so I think we should get him back into the team. I am sure the central defenders would prefer him calling the shots, as he is also exceptional at collecting crosses – whenever he comes out he almost always gets at least a punch on the ball.
Nothing beat experience .. Almunia is the best on what we’ve got at the moment, so i rather trust him and put back, being benched 3 times by 3rd choice is already a cold splash reality slap for him.
Frey in, january 1st, end of. The problem wasnt Mannone though. The team switched off n gave half the effort west ham gave and thus the draw. I didnt like the way arshavin played totaly disinterested and its not the first time either. Against spuds eddie and rosicky should start nasri too, give diaby a rest. How we’ve missed Rosicky in those two draws. Front three, eddie van n rosicky. Btw whats the deal with Senderos? Y is he not even on the bench instead of fishface??
omg how can you say that almunia is great at crosses his poor even fabianksi is better than him
i sincerely think that if le prof has lost faith in almunia ho by the way is ur best keeper IMO than we have to get one to keep ur shit clean and i have a few in mind the likes of akinfiev or fiorentina`s forgot his name or have a look in germany their r at least half a dozen top class keepers in there
another thing if almunia got his place back which im not against he got to get much tougher in his area.bcos to be honest i fel much better with him between the sticks. remember last season in anfield if he was there the 3 points could b urs
Wenger is the master at finding outfield players, but he has a blind spot when it comes to goalkeepers – arguably the most important position. None of our 4 are good enough, and he needs to buy in January, because we won’t win anything with an idiot in goal, no matter how good the rest of the team is. A bad keeper has already cost us up to 8 points this season, and over the whole campaign we can’t afford to give away 15 points or so due to a dodgy keeper. For the time being he has to pick Almunia, the other 3 are complete novices. Schwarzer would be on my list if i was Wenger – look at all the other clubs in the Premier League – all the goalies are in their 30s, so why did Wenger get rid of Lehmann?
