Would Demba Ba be good for Arsenal?

Posted on July 09, 2012 by admin

Arsenal should not be looking at Demba Ba by KJ

There of course has been a lot of talk regarding Arsenal signing a new striker and naturally, many names have been put forward. There has been one that completely puzzles me and that’s people calling for Demba Ba.

Now don’t get me wrong; Ba has had a great season for Newcastle. He managed to score a decent tally of 16 goals and 2 assists. However, this is only impressive for a mid-table club. Although Newcastle have had a really impressive season, I just don’t see them replicating that next year even if they manage to hold onto Cisse, Ba, Cabaye and Arfa.

The positives of the Senegalese striker are that he is clearly a physical threat who can act like a target man. He is also clearly quite decent with his feet. Now the reasoning behind such a poor second half of the season lends to the fact that he was primarily deployed as a winger as his Senegalese colleague dominated as main striker.

The negatives are, even if Ba was used mainly as a winger because of Cisse, he still should’ve been able to keep his goal scoring record ticking. The likes of Podolski who is mainly a striker is able to do so for Germany, so why can’t Ba (if he’s being considered as our main striker)? He has also got some injury issues as his medical at Stoke was unsuccessful because of ligament damage in his knee. Stoke officials called it an accident waiting to happen.

There is no doubt that Ba is a good striker. But he is definitely not a great striker. He looks average in comparison to the likes of Falcao/Cavani/Llorente (players that Wenger should be looking at to replace RVP).

Only if he were used as a central striker. Build the attack around him. He’s shown he can’t score from the wings. He needs to be the figure head like RVP was.

The question is which fotmation wenger
will use…if he use the 4-3-3 than buy a
normal replacement for van persie cuz
no top player wants to come to sit on the Bench..
cuz we have giroud who will play as main
striker next season…and if wenger use
4-4-2 than buying a top class striker
    should be our main priority…!

Arsenal plays technical game much like Barca and Real. A gun ho striker like just cant make the cut. Ibrahimovith just couldn’t do it at Barca.so sorry but excuse me, no Ba! and at Arsenal we have the proverbial nine lives. Some one will step up. and most likely, that person will be Yao Gervinho.

what’s important is to have 3-4 strikers who can share the burden of scoring. we already have 2, maybe one more decent striker and upgrade one youngster and of course practice the whole team on shooting. we need to spread those goals.

I still think that Gervinho is going to have one hell of a season. Every player needs a year to settle in. In my opinion, he is better with the ball than Walcott. I feel like we all forget about the depth that the Ivorian provides in our squad!

Giroud and podolsky are already excellent signings for us. We need a creative midfielder to top it off. As long as giroud and podolsky are fed the ball, they will get us goals! That should be our priority, not another striker.

I dont think Arsenal will buy another big name striker if RVP leaves. I dont see Arsenal spending close to 25million on a player. Thats not the Arsenal or Wenger way.

Dislike it if you loke but if we think realistically and look at Arsenals past signings I would be very suprised if all the money made from RVP sale will be used for new transfers especially if its just only one player.

Gunner fans need to start think realistically when naming transfers. I have seen some ridiculous transfer here which will never happen under the current board we have.

Im a gunner for life but also I live in real world where Arsenal buys for a good price and sells for a profit.

what you guys said is right, he has great feet and is a powerful stiker but i think when he was playing winger he played deeper plus he doesn’t have much pace, but he’still a top striker and with our midfielders he’ll score loads, he’s like van persie but much slower but he’s getting better and i think he would be great for arsenal.

if rvp doznt wanna stay then replace him with the same money for Jovitec and new contract for walcott if not then replace him with moses for half of hiz money and then if u look at our players we dont hv any decent attacking midf so i think Ben Arfa would be bralliant addition he can be come fantastic player he will give our squad big boos by the time J-W iz bak and plz we need to complete M’villa’s sign.

If Ba came to us, he would become first choice striker and while you comment that he is only good enough for a mid table side, with Wenger and Gazidis bumming each other at Arsenal we will be lucky if we are a mid table side in 5 years! love to see how many dislikes i get haha

No Ba needed. The question is, which quality striker wish to sit on the bench. What I think Arsenal need at the moment are, one creative, attacking goal scoring minded midfielder (like Demsey) and a solid defensive midfielder who has the ability of SONG to provide cover for defenders – in case injuries. The OX, Gervinho and Walcot, I believe will do well if give the striking (Asst) role. Early Preparation with the new buys will be the key to success.
HENRY reigned – Because he was nurtured/prepared by Arsenal.
RVP was nurtured/prepared by Arsenal and HE reigned.
SOMEONE is online this SEASON to reign in Arsenal.
    Long live Arsen

If van persie does leave we are not just going to miss a finishing threat but we are also going to miss a creative and skillfull threat. RVP is one of the most skillfull players around!

I believe jovetic could be a great asset because of his creativity and skill. He also knows where the goal is which always helps. Jovetic may not be able to step into RVPs shoes but he would give us the same attacking dimension van persie gave us.

buying ba or any x,y,z from any team will do no good to the team ,coz they are not taught to play “the arsenal way”,,these guys -puyol, xavi, iniesta, and co of their age group at barca were not big names and won nothing during their age(early 20′s) but since they know each others game well and improved technically year by year coz they all played the same way.. so realistically i feel someone whose around in arsenal for quite sometime ( or barca) are the ones whose going to make the cut,,,remember even villa was benched for few games, even before his injury..best bet is forgetting what RVP said in his site and retaining him at all costs.Rooney and modric were not shown the door ,,were they ??

He is a top draw striker = great striker had we had the good sense to sign him for free as well as other top draw players we have snubbed on free contracts. All of these players resulted in far value than the likes of keeping hold of 10+ deadwood players in our squad that will never ever be quality players.
We are hanging on to poor players far to long in my opinion, eg, Allmunio, Bendtner, Velo, Scillaci and may more.
I am sure that these players would not be going if the fans didn’t bring their performances into question. Well done to the fans.

Make up your f*cking minds! It wasn’t long ago you were all calling for Ba! He scored 16 goals in the first half of the f*cking season, went to ACON and then when Cisse came he was shunted out to the wing. He still played well there, maybe not on the scoresheet, but he certainly still contributed a lot. Cisse wouldn’t have scored as many as he did without Ba. F*ck you lot shit me. Mwenyeji, Ibra didn’t do well at Barca? You are retarded. What an ignorant, dumbf*ck thing to say. He scored 21 goals in his first season in Spain with an attacked based on Messi and playing with Henry! What the f*ck else did anyone expect from him? Fair dinkum, open your f*cking eyes and make up your mind and stick to it! Demba Ba is a high class player, no question. He sh!ts all over Chamakh, Bendtner, Vela, Park and he’d do better than Giroud because he has been in England for a season and a half. If you expect Giroud and Podolski to score 50-60 goals between them next season, then you’re living in a dream land. They very well may, but you cannot bank on it if you want to win a title. Jovetic, based on past form, is well out of the Arsenal price range, as is Llorente.

Have to agree with Ben ba is a fucking gun. He is better than all of our current strukers including our new ones. 16 goals in half a season compared to giroud’s just over 20 in France. I have a feeling giroud will flop and if we sell van Persie I believe we should go after ba and cisse. Those 2 are lethal

No, keep 4-3-3, ask barca for 5 million plus Affelay and Pedro for RVP. then, convert walcott to a striker, with our lineup as – Szcezney (GK) sanga (rb) TV5 and Kos (cb) Gibbs (lb). Centre mids – any combo of M’vila (if signed) Arteta, Wilshere and Song, CAM-Affelay, Podolski/Gervinho (LW) Pedro/OX, CF- Giroud/Walcott

Creativity to midfield – Alan Dzagoev. Did you see his performance at Euro’s? He is genius. Send Arshavin there and get Alan little cheaper.

And as “Awesome Gunner” said, dont expect big signings because we should look to the past. Well the times has changed too, or do you remember when it was the last time we LOST to Man U 8-2 or to Milan 4-0? Those results were unforgivable. I really, really hope AW remembers those games and sees that our last season in all was horrible.

RVP’s replacement should be proven, stone-cold finisher.

Forget Soldado, his contract is until 2017.

Llorente has only 1 year left and he is very, very consistent. Would maybe go for him.

Robert Lewandowski is also intriguing option, he has proven himself at Bundesliga which physically is similar to BPL.

Hulk? Expensive as hell but would be ugly enough for Premier League to make it!

People have this perception that Ba wants too leave but he doesn’t. Yes if you offer him 80k a week silly money he will go but he’s not desperate, we love him up in Newcastle, he loves it here as well. He would be very happy to stay and if you didn’t have Harry fucking Redknapp blabering on about a release clause and the media desperate to create something out of made up rumours you wouldnt be talking about this. He would only leave for a significant increase in wages and also, on the Ben Arfa mentions, he is also happy up here and has been forever thankful for the fans support after his leg break. We adore him as well and Pardew is building his time around a spine of Krul-Coloccini-Cabaye-Tiote-Ben Arfa-Cisse so only stupid money would get any of them 6. Ashley will drive a hard bargain, as he did Carroll and will probably look for £19m for ben arfa-knowing that you wont pay it, and if you are mental enough too pay that, well its £19m for us isnt it?
