Yossi Benayoun Hit By Arsenal Injury Jinx!

Posted on September 22, 2011 by admin

The injury situation at Arsenal is fast becoming a laughing stock now, as it seems a different player each week finds himself in the treatment room and the latest to find himself there is Yossi Benayoun.

Benayoun scored his first Arsenal goal on Tuesday evening in the 3-1 win over Shrewsbury, but rather than celebrating he took to his twitter page and tweeted, “Very disappointed as I have a strain and will be out for a week or so.”

Now correct me if I’m wrong, but when a player says “a week or so” that normally means at least two weeks maybe three! With every game being important at the moment it is another player that we can ill afford to do without.

There is some good news to report on the injury to Jack Wilshere though. Wilshere is expected to be out until at least November, but is now targeting the game against Marseille on 19 October as his comeback according to reports in the press.

Please don’t rush back Jack. As much as we need Wilshere in the team we do not need him coming back and breaking down in his first game back. If it means a November comeback and a 100% fit Jack Wilshere then so be it.

You cannot be 110% fit, or agree 110%. Percentages are fractions of a whole. The willy-nilly bandying about and abuse of the percentage system has devalued it’s significance. I wish Jack to be 100% fit, because that is the ultimate fitness he is capable of reaching – if it were possible to gauge fitness levels with a percentage system.

Benayoun would have been a useful player to have on the bench for the Bolton game, we’re going to face a real challenge on saturday looking at our current form.

Every single season the same story with injuries.
    It can’t be coincidence anymore.
Our medical team is useless there is no other way around it.
Our players can’t all be made out of glass can they?

About Jack, I totally agree, the boy need not inflict more pressure on that ankle. About the injuries, the blame is squarely on the medical staff, these guys atleast struggle to get the players back on the field. I think the training methods need to be revised. Benitez came under scrutiny an pressure at milan because he had the biggest injury list in the serie A. We are the only side in England who do on the ball training the most. Explains why we concede numerous unnecessary bookings and we fizzle out under too much physically demanding games
