Yossi Benayoun to sign permanent deal with Arsenal?
Aside from the usual suspects, Mario Gotze and Eden Hazard, or the likes of Lukas Podolski and Moussa Sow rumoured to join the Gunners, there is one player who is almost certain to sign a permanent deal with the club next summer.
Yossi Benayoun, whose goal gave Arsenal the win against Aston Villa, is the player concerned here. Lest any of us forget, he is still considered a Chelsea player on loan to Arsenal! While he has had few appearances for the club, but he has impressed more than just a few Arsenal fans with his general play and his perennially high energy level on the pitch.
Benayoun sums up his performance well for himself in words too: “I don’t know if I felt the goal was coming, but every time I get the chance to play I’m doing my best.
“I didn’t play in the last two games and of course you get a bit frustrated. You wait for your chance and I’m glad I scored the winner.”
Chelsea may be having second thoughts about letting the Israeli go but with the Chelsea fans adamant that he is another “Judas” not unlike Sol Campbell was for Tottenham, his move to Arsenal may already be sealed.
The move would hardly be a tragedy either. Benayoun has shown in his appearances so far just how technically gifted he is and how composed he is with the ball, providing additional creativity and adding more bite to the Arsenal midfield whenever he plays.
Additionally, the other question to ask is if Benayoun deserves a first team spot ahead of Aaron Ramsey at the moment. Some Arsenal fans are insistent that Benayoun’s good performances should merit a first-team spot and with the fixture congestion over the festive period, there would be hardly any reason to question Wenger if he chooses to take Benayoun ahead of Ramsey for some matches too.
However, at 31 years of age, some fans will question the move if it happens as well. They feel that the signing would only be stop-gap or a waste of money. Objectively though, if he can improve the side, I don’t see a reason why he should not sign a permanent deal even if for only a couple of years.

what’s the point of that when someone like gotze, gourcuff or Lucas Moura could come in to take his place when he goes back to Chelsea. One of those three could give much more and for longer

31 years of age is my only concern and im sure its a huge concern for Arsene. If he’s to cost any more than 1 mill, i doubt shrewd Arsene will purchase for the few quality years he has left. It’s a shame coz benayoun’s been quality since his west ham days. It will be interesting to see what other peoples opinion are on the matter though…

Good, if he’s cheap. He can steal score as he has proven, but can also help the younger, less experienced, players training.

I just get disgusted by pple pretending to be fans & al they can do is to criticize a player who is so professional & committed like Benayoun. He is am impact player & has proved it ,his work rate, industry is second to non. Very few in the current squad would work their socks off at the age of 31,look at Arsh one just lacks words. Any one not ready to appreciate this guy & keeps on crying about buying, buying world class bull is totally crazy.

Benayoun has been a decent loan – unlike players like Park or Chamberlin, Wenger trusts him enough to play him in important games. He’s technically gifted and hardened to the ways of the Premiership and he also plays his heart out. He’ll never set the world on fire but he’s adding depth to a squad that lacks experience. Personally if we can get him for a good price I’d be happy for him to become a proper member of the team. He’s getting on so we don’t want to spill too much cash on him but that’s rarely been a problem with Wenger.

i think wenger should sign him and rosiscky for another 2 yrs contract ok to make the younger player like ramsey to learn one r two things from them and also at their age they are more mobile than some of the young play in the EPL

i have nothing against him staying… good guy, modest, hard working, full of energy, experienced, good on the ball… and to point out once more a good guy, who doesn’t mind being on the bench for some time and filling in when needed… love him…

fergusen has won titles and champions leagues with half a dozen players in there mid to late thirties, where did this idea that once a player hits 30 hes past it come from? its complete tosh and i dont no why arsenal fans are so anti experience.
how old were adams, keown, parlour, bergkamp, seaman, winterburn, and dixon when they one us those 3 pl titles we have? what are you lot on?????????

I think Rosicky’s contract runs out at the end of the season and unless he starts playing soon I don’t see a reason to why he would want to stay tbh!!! Benayoun could replace him in the summer if this happens, I’m sure Wenger is aware of his value at his age… My main concern atm is Walcott and Song not talking about new contracts… I know van Persie won’t talk till the summer…

Fans need to step back open their eyes and look at the bigger picture.
Do you really think Benayoun is a world class player that can help Arsenal win trophies?
My opinion is No Way. he is just a cheap alternative to the talent out there that we could really do with.
With so many fans agreeing that we should keep him on permanently it just means gazidis and the board do not spend on world class talent and make do with a Chelsea reject.
Two signings in January last year were the difference between automatic CL football or winning the PL. lets hope we don’t settle with cheap alternatives this year.
We want a trophy and we want it this May, not after another 6 years, so members of the board, put your money on the table and get the best that is out there for a change. you have made more than enough money from taking advantage of the fans you greedy gits.

i thin better let arshavin go and keep benayoun as well as rosicky because they bring attacking options for the team. just give them game time they will deliver they seem to provide what gervinho and walcot lack detemination and courage. their final passes are awesome

Buy Benayoun; sell Arshavin and Rosicky..and Diaby. He is better than all of them.

We should grant the man at least a 1 year contract or pay as you play agreement. He’s worth the little money we can offer him. I never doubted Benayoun and it’s funny to see him win over fans after scoring some crucial goals for Arsenal.
I just hope everyone learns to appreciate Park’s presence in the team too. It will only be a matter of time until he gets his chance and achieve the same things as the other new recruits from the summer.

His attitude is top class and he represents a great option from the bench. He may not be in our 11 but he will work, he is class, and he can win games for us

i do like Benayoun but if he does sign a permanent deal at arsenal i dont want to see him benched all the time which he might be if we do get people like m’villa and montovilo and that would be a waste of money since he’d only be playing cup matches as an arsenal fan i dont just think of the club but also the players at the club and dont want him to get frustrated with the club and just retire coz he dint get enough time on the pitch

he is a good guy…
BUT if we want move fwd we can just have him as a squad player ….
no way a starter unless we want become mid table club i would rather bring the ox or ryo off the bench b4 this guy coz they are better and our future…..

What makes a player world class? Why are we constantly believing that the gaffer will spend 30 million on one player. Yossi has been great for us, and its great when a player changes clubs and carries on being as professional and committed to his adoptd club. He is a good player but I am not totally convinced that Wenger will keep to many over 30s in the squad.
Why are we writing off Park, without seeing him having a good run. How many fan remember the time it took for Pires to adapt to the league.

well if chelsea are willing to let him go for cheap since he will only have 1 year left on his current contract then we should sign him. ramsey needs some kind of role model to learn from and i think benayoun can provide that.

Ben Ayoun like Rosicky is a mature experienced Premier Le
ague player and at just the right point in his career to play way more games for Arsene than he currently plays,Ra
msey ,Wilshere are still years behind in their physical and mental development ,whilst Arshavin and Walcott are
never going to get nearly enough goals to warrant their pl
aces ahead of Yossi,so why keep him (ben Ayoun )on the be
nch when he clearly is much needed on the pitch rather strange tactics from Arsenal coaching staff ?
