Zenit make Arshavin offer – Should Wenger let him go?
The little Russian forward Andrei Arshavin has not looked like his heart is at Arsenal for some time now, and he is rarely given a start by Wenger except in the underperforming Gunners “second-string” games.
Considering that just two years ago he was considered the biggest star in Russia (never mind Zenit!), either his ability has deteriorated, or he has lost the hunger he once had to run rings around opposing defences. He certainly doesn’t look like he is enjoying his game now even when Wenger gives him a start.
Well today the Zenit Sporting director, Igor Korneev, said that Arshavin would be welcomed back at the club with open arms: “With Andrey it is very simple. He graduated from our club and the doors are always open for him.
“We would always welcome him back to the club whether that is now or in the future.”
Now that Wenger has promoted Jack Wilshere to the Arsenal first team, and with Aaron Ramsey now ready to return to contend for a starting place, is it time for Wenger to put Arshavin out of misery and let him return to his homeland?

I’m sure wenger would say he would welcome messi with open arms – wouldn’t mean it’s an “offer” though.
Arshavin is just going through a poor patch of form – nothing more than that and we should keep him.

This guy is a joke has he has ability going forward but he is no team player, leaves his LB exposed every time the opposition moved forward and I believe his lack of work ethic is bad for the team.
Yes he has score some goals and has agew assits any decent forward/ wing man would get those at Arsenal especially if they stand around in the other teams half the whole match.
Good riddence sell him for a much as we can get.

He doesn’t seem to have the heart anymore, but those at the club and in the lockerroom would know if that is true or just a dip in form.
If he really is unhappy, then he will be on his way out.
Honda or Hazard would be great replacements.
If he is just off his game now, then we would be immeasurably better if he gets his form back for the stretch run this season.

class act that’s out of form. he will be back. we will need him. Arsenal fans are too hard on him. there are other players who under perform and don’t get half the stick from the fans as Arshavin. I’m keeping faith on him

Maybe it just wasn’t the right move for him. We have seen him at his best and he really has contributed to our place in all competitions. So if he wants to go it might be the right time to say thanks

I think he will leave in the summer with Hazard coming in…but it ain’t gonna happen now…it leave the team short an experience and brilliant winger…
he is so close to recapturing his form he was good against leeds just unlucky!
and to say his heart isn’t in it is B.S. did you see him chase back to the left defensive corner make a tackle and win the ball back…

No Way ! Arshavin is top draw… He has all the abilities in him…. He can change a game single handedly……Hes got experience…He a world star…..AQnd he played his heart out at Leeds…coming bak to defend and Often switching flanks with bendtner……Hes got the desire and hes got the skill. Out of position, out of form, but I doubt he’s out of time and out the door. Wenger likes him so he’ll keep him and give him opportunities to redeem himself. Hopefully Arshavin can get his form back OR at least help on the defensive end and not seem so disinterested when things aren’t going his way. He can be a difference maker but he’s definitely not showing his best.

I don’t think he should be sold. From the game yesterday, i could see he’s simply out of form. He tried so hard but he just couldn’t get it right. I think there’s more to it than we know though. He will come around but it’s down to wenger and the player himself to make that time come ASAP!

I agree with Alex, Arshavin is not all that bad at the moment, he will assist us against Barca at Nou. We only need to win the league cup to give confidence to these players. But Bendtner should loaned some where in epl or la liga, he needs more playing time to become strong and cofident. Wenger shud not be gambling by experimenting him with important games at the expense gooner’s coming back to glory. RVP is back, he can be supported by charmach. And to those who detest denilson to leave are not thinking properly, Denilson is a very good, he covers SONG well, as you Song can sometimes be used as a CD with our injury prone defence. Rosicky shud be kept to assist in leadership, he is a classy though he is growing old, he is to be our giggs

I don’t know if you noticed during the Leeds game but mr arshavin was tracking the ball back to around Sagna’s position, and when Sagna got the ball back, Arsha didn’t run back in attack, just walked his way slowly.
As stated by few, this is a team spirit.
I also noticed when Chamakh was in position of scoring that Arshavin delayed his pass and eventually gave it to the defense.

At the end of the day, it is AW’s decision. He knows best over Arshavin’s contribution to the squad. I keep remembering the 4 at Anfield and although that hasn’t been repeated elsewhere, surely it will in time.You don’t become a failure overnight. As I say, though, only AW has the answer.

Arse shavin needs a little rest, some time alone in a corner to think about what he hasnt done.
In all honestly ive never rated him as an arsenal player, i no he used to score a fair few goals and he sets up alot and on paper thats all that matters in football but if you took them stats away from him even when we first signed him hes never really looked like a great player, he wont beat a man for pace with silky skills and smash one in the top corner, everything is put on a plate for him.
Good luck to him though, im sure wenger will make the right choice by him.

Absolutely NOT!!!!!!!! It not about the heart not being in the game, and he is perfectly conditioned as well. His style differs from most players. He knows the field and sees every player on it. He connects and links everyone together. Most goals come from his assists. He can be selfish at times and so he should. He is dangerous and opponents always know that. He is not a designated striker who must score in every game. He is a huge part in Arsenal’s recent success. If you are looking for someone to sell, sell Bendtner. There is a designated striker, out of position, spending more time in the back than in the front. Not enough speed, not enough skill and no vision on the field.

I have never thought Arsh can cope with the pace of the Prem – he ain’t fit enough and drops out of games. Also, his one-touch pass is too often made without looking so that we lose the ball in dangerous places. BUT he has great skill and a few, only a few, of his passes are brilliant. They can change a game. Wenger will hold on to him for as long as he (and I have my doubts) wants to be in London. He is one of the more ingteresting players; seems to lack interest/fitness and then comes an explosion of pace or a flash of genius. He must be hell to manage. Yes, he’s lost form and is that because he’s lost interest? I believe the closer we get to silverware, the sooner his form will return. Assess him at the end of the season and then act. I do agree that his wages could probably be spent more profitably elsewhere. I won’t weep if he goes…

There are a couple who seem a bit homesick Bendtner may be one and possibly Fabregas the other. It may pass it may not, much will depend on the end of the season achievements but it needs to be settled during the break.

Who set up Samir for the first goal last night which pretty well settled the game? It was a delightful pass perfectly weighted a cut back and accurate. If we had not scored early we might have had a very different game as we had at the Emirates. Get rid of class at your peril. Remember Form is Temporary but Class is Permanent.
I also agree that Bentner is out of his depth in this team and needs to go to pastures new either on loan or better for some real money.

Arsharvin is a professional footballer he should work hard on his wages ! Second half he lost the ball as gibbs overlapped and gibbs still managed to get back past the lazy russian ! And what will he give us at the nou camp ? He waits to long for the ball and doesnt protect it like nasri or cesc..he will be in alves pocket all night..hasnt played well for a long time.. he’s a great asset to the team even when he’s out of form. what is MEGA annoying though is when he loses his feet and falls over, he just lies there and doesn’t get up. if he works hard and makes an effort to defend, no one will be talking about selling him.

He is absolutely brilliant and there is no way we should sell him for any price. What bad form are we talking about??? One of the goals of the season against Wigan and also set up bendtner for the second, set up nasri’s goal against leeds, if theo had scored from a perfect pass against leeds towards the end, we wouldnt even have needed the reply, so please those criticizing him can take a hike, he is absolutely fantabulous.

Erm bad form in reference to awful passing and lackluster shooting. No defensive ability and has no stamina. He is a world class player but maybe he isn’t suited to english game. La liga would suit him. Nevertheless he is an amazing player. No one trick pony scores 4 goals at anfield in that manner. Arsenal need him and he good to have coming off the bench for impact. He also plays better behind the striker and not out on the win. he is still class and it was wengers mistake in always dumping his players over 30 losing experience. He is still a good role model for the academy boys to follow as apposed to shit like denilson and diaby!
