It is being claimed in the media that Arsenal are among the clubs interested in signing Eintracht Frankfurt goal scoring phenomenon Luka Jovic. The Metro, citing Marca, claim that Chelsea, Man Utd, Barcelona and Real Madrid are among the high profile clubs that are keen on signing the 21 year old.
Apparently, the Bundesliga outfit have set a whopping €78 Million price tag on the youngster which strangely has seen Man City dropped out of the running.
It should also be noted that Jovic is on loan to Eintracht from Portuguese side Benfica but they have an option to make the move permanent, which they almost certainly will do and as soon as that happens may look to cash in for an immediate profit, if they are persuaded to sell of course.
So why the huge interest in the young lad?
He is scoring at will this season in one of Europe’s elite leagues that is why, he has scored 23 goals in 37 appearances in all competitions and in the Bundesliga scoring charts he is joint second on 16 goals, three behind Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski.
Chelsea were viewed as the favourites because of their desperation to sign a top quality striker but their impending two year transfer ban means they are probably out of the running, which can only be good news for us.
The fee is huge for sure, but that does mean we are out of the running, Champions League football and player sales could easily see us have a transfer budget over £100m.
One worry is that Benfica was not desperate to hold onto him and he has just had the one positive season, it is a bit risky to splash out such a huge amount on a player that is not proven over a few seasons.
Arsenal have chased Luka Jovic in the past when he was two to three years younger. Now I see why he was a really wanted guy and was known for scoring many goals in the U23’s.He’s the perfect definition of an Arsenal kind of striker who can do many things with the ball.Along with Ante Rebic and one of his other teammates they make Freiburg’ s attack formidable and hence the reason why Freiburg have done very well this season.Out of the possible clubs we could face in the Europa it was they that I was really wary of because they are really good and in form. However,Arsenal will look to target the pressing issues first in the summer transfer window and this move looks far away from happening.
Yes, Arsenal have more pressing needs in the wing and RB departments
Lacazette and Aubameyang are already perfect for the next three years
Striker should be the last position we look at. Auba and Lacazette are already far more than good enough. When we need to find another striker there will be another talent available. There is never a shortage of talented strikers, unlike the market for defenders.
His scoring and assist stats have been excellent in the last two seasons at Frankfurt, but Arsenal do not need another striker with similar style as Lacazette’s and Aubameyang’s
Had Arsenal planned to get another striker, they had better look for a towering striker like Sandro Wagner or Marko Arnautovic. Arsenal were able to break their opponent’s tight defense with Giroud after 70 minutes, but now they have no target man
They need a deadly winger with excellent first touches, strength and pace like Salah. They used to have Robert Pires in the wing and Iwobi has the potential but still unable to maximize it.
Only £75 mill euros eh? Well Santa Kroenke is bound to sign him then , isn’t he! WHATS THAT YOU SAY? O’h yes, it is quite a comfortable padded cell actually, thank you for asking! I especially like the flying pigs that go past all the time!
Santa Kroenke ?…….. which one of you guys call him Satan Kroenke ?…… honestly, if we’re going to splash money on a player, it should be a defender. Preferably Koulibaly. I believe our defence will be sorted if we get a defender like him, and we can sell Mustafi and other fringe players to recoup some of what was spent
Satan or Santa? Which? A rather big difference, I’d say!
You’ve started something here Jon, just wait till Christmas, it will go viral!!!
It strikes me as odd that anyone would think we have that type of money. I believe we probably have a budget of around 45 million pounds and need to reinforce some defensive positions and add a creative midfield player. I don’t think we will succeed in selling Ozil but if we do it will be for small money given his salary. I hope we sell Mustafi but, again, I don’t expect big money for him and the proceeds of his sale should be reinvested in a CDer.
We are years away (and most likely a new owner) from spending 78 million on any one player.
75 million what!!! Arsenal should come sign me for 10 million dollars, and i am gonna them goals, using every part of my body!
Come on Wolves
Red card for united and Dean gets his century of red cards. Wolves are closer to the big 6 than the midtable on squad quality.
Oh I bet he loved brandishing that card! Wolves won’t have a better chance then…. Come on Jimenez!
If united nick this after their undeserved win vs Watford and yet another lucky win for Liverpool something might fly off the window tonight.
Dontcha just love Chris Smalling?! ?
Lol my window is smalling number one fan
You can brag tonight Ackshay! Thank you Wolves ?
Chris Smalling – definitely my MOTM ?
OT: We still have to play Watford, Wolves, Everton and Leicester. These teams are ranked 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th respectively on the log. Add Burnely who are in a relegation dog fight and will fight hard for their survival. No easy games …… just saying ?♂️
Don’t be fooled by Wolves beating United (twice). They nearly plundered us at the Emirates. Molineux is a slaughterhouse for the “Top Teams”
The Honey Moon always comes to an end, though not always sweet for every…
Hello Ole!
??
No complaints from me about the officiating tonight ??
???
It’s so terrible being thrown to the wolves.??
No need officiating; they don’t listen anyway.
Yes those poor mancs ??
How long before we start hearing Ole out?!
Very soon Sue. Very soon…and Morinho will have the last laugh..
Heard it on TalkSport this morning Sue. 3 losses in 4 games now with a lucky win against Watford as the only win. Premature appointment then? God, how I hope so!
Couldn’t happen to a nicer team Jon ?
Man utd beaten by wolves!great result, all we have to do is concentrate in our games,by the way my MOTM against the magpies was Guendouzy completely outmuscled Diame who is not a lightweight by any means we hsve a germ in our ha nds, only 19 yesrs old,it summed up t he mentality of the team st the moment 8 millions what a bargain,!aczette is turning the same there wss s reason athleticio wanted him, what a player and not selectioned in the french team, whst s shame!!
He is a real gem, but flies like a chicken at the slightest challenge goalkeeping the ball. But I’m very sure he’ll stop that, and begin to show he’s stronger now by the time he’s 21 and older.
