Arsenal and Man City have same problems! Who will fix them first?

I know that at first glance, not many people would compare Arsenal with Man City at the minute, because the last 10 years or so have seen the two clubs operating about as differently as possible, with Arsene Wenger working on a shoestring and our trophy winning ability dwindling year on year, while a succession of City bosses have been throwing money around like lottery winners and propelling the club to it’s most successful period.

But look at us this season and there are some glaring similarities in the problems we are facing, while Chelsea can hardly believe their luck that no one seems to be interested in competing for the Premier League title.

Arsenal and City both got tough draws in the Champions League and have not had the best of time in Europe. And the fans of both clubs demand that we get through. The reasons are slightly different, with Gooners being so accustomed to the knockout phase that not making it is unthinkable, while City fans feel that the squad they have should be doing much better.

And in the EPL, we have both shown flashes of brilliance but have too often been below par and capitulated. And we are both heavily reliant on a striker from South America, while the rest of the players have not played to their top level.

And finally, what I think could be the reason for both clubs’ struggles is that our managers are the nice guy type that do not bawl out the players but tries to treat them with respect and educate rather than dictate. And the players like that, but if they do not then do the business on the pitch, they could end up with some red faced guy giving them the hairdryer treatment and chucking football boots at their heads.

So which, if any, club will sort out their similar problems first? I personally think and hope that Wenger’s extra EPL experience and time working with his players will pay off above Manuel Pellegrini and the mercenary nature of the Man City squad. What do you think Gooners?

  1. Arsenel working on a shoe string?
A 150 mill annual wage bill.
Money has never been a problem.
    Wenger is paid a measley
    8 mill “shoe string wage”.
Must live in constant fear of
    having the lecky cut off.

    1. Exactly, so sick of the stadium debt being used as an excuse, nonsense, around 34 million from day one and still at that rate for some years to come, no debt is cleared, payments are the same!
Only thing holding us back was Wenger’s ineptness and stubbornness!
Now our wage bill is higher than Chelsea’s!?! WTF???

  2. I reckon Wenger and the board
long ago came to the realisation
that trying to win the league is
    simply not worth the risk.
Only one team wins the league
so why bother? There are 19 losers
no matter how much you spend.
4th place gets you all the same
teams to play, the stadium is always full
the same TV coverage and sponsorship
but without the massive outlay in signing
more than one star per season.
4th place also gets you ten ECL games
only 3 less than the winner.
Have to say financially it makes perfect sense.
Once you learn to embrace the 4th place ethos
with all your heart you will find eternal footballing peace.
And you can have embroided on your arsenal shirt, “AKB Forever”
We may not win sh#t but the rent gets paid every Thursday 🙂

And thats probably why most of our great players have left. Instead of paying them a bit more we have gone into the transfer market and paid for players that aren’t up to the grade.

  3. I think if we dont get a result against man utd the heat will really be on wenger. Hes cant be that stupid to think hes doing a good job. Its a managers job to organise his side and play a style depending on your opposition and we cant do that against the average premier league sides. Bring in someone with personality like klopp and watch him slap maureen down how id love that.

  4. If we buy the right players in January and we get our other players preforming, I can see great things happening.

    1. Again with the ‘this transfer window’ NEWSFLASH there wont be a few players, we will get one if we are lucky and we will be very lucky if he isn’t injured as well!

  5. Goodnight all or good morning.

Can people not see what some of these articles are doing, they are splitting us apart. I for one don’t want to be a part of it because I love our club.

  6. Arsenal as i have said before are just 2-3 players away fro winning something, its left to the ridiculous manager to do something about it , nothing can be done until january.

Mancity no doubt will have to carry in some fresh faces to get them going, they actually have the money to get anyone.

I just waiting for January, the media is being ridiculous as usual with players we are said to be after, if its not a DM and CB , i strongly doubt we will be interested

  7. sorry, we don’t have the same problem….. They are just having a minor setback…. Ours, have been Like forever
