Arsenal back in to try and sign creative midfield star

Arsenal have returned to Inter Milan to enquire about the possible capture of Marcelo Brozovic this summer. The Croatian international enjoyed an impressive European Championships alongside Luka Modric and Ivan Rakitic, although the Arsenal chief has long been in the know when it comes to his potential and talent.

We were linked with his capture prior to his initial loan move to Inter, when he was starring for Dynamo Zagreb in his home country Croatia, while Chelsea were formerly linked with a move to try and sign him previously also.

He has only this summer become a permanent fixture for the Italian club, having paid a pre-agreed fee to sign him come the end of that initial 18-month loan deal, although his club are believed to be willing to sell him on.

Inter are claimed to be in want of €30 Million to part ways with their young midfielder, having signed him for a reported €5 Million fee only this month.

Arsenal have already signed Granit Xhaka to play at the base of midfield during the current window, but with Tomas Rosicky, Mathieu Flamini and Mikel Arteta having all left at the end of last season, there is space in the squad for replacements.

Mohamed Elneny was only signed back in January, and plays in a similar box-to-box style as Brozovic, although the Croatian has been said to be versatile in playing roles in different formations.

Brozovic’s team-mate Mauro Icardi has also been linked with a switch to the Emirates this summer, but looks as though he could be sold to Napoli instead, with their main striker Gonzalo Higuain set to join Juventus.

Do we really need more central midfielders? Is our failure to add a new striker thus far changing our transfer plans? Who rates Brozovic?
