Arsenal boss confirms signing of new ‘Ashley Cole’

Arsene Wenger has confirmed Arsenal’s first signing of the winter transfer window, and has given him some huge praise.

The Gunners have agreed to sign Cohen Bramall from non-league side Hednesford Town for a reported fee of around £40,000.

Wenger confirmed the move on BeInSports, saying: ‘Cohen Brammal has signed for us. He’s an exceptional physical talent..

‘I don’t think he’s ready, today, to play in Premier League but he has similarities to a young Ashley Cole.”

Arsenal come across the youngster when impressing on trial with Sheffield Wednesday previously, before inviting him to come to North-London to train with the Gunners’ senior side on another trial basis in December.

The full-back is now expected to join up with the development squad as he continues his progress.

Being likened to Ashley Cole is a huge talking point, with the former England international having been a key cog in the famous Invincibles side of 2004, before going onto win further honours with Chelsea including both European club trophies, and could have been argued to be the best left-back in the world for a number of years.

Cohen will certainly have a long way to go before he can be held in the same regard as Cole, but Wenger clearly has huge hopes for him in the future.

Hector Bellerin has made the step-up from the reserve side in recent seasons and is currently being ranked among the best in the world at present, and should the Gunners boss be proved right, we could well have the best full-backs in the Premier League for some time once he makes his step up.

Is Ashley Cole the biggest name he could have been likened to? Does Cohen’s arrival mean we no longer need to replace Gibbs/Monreal?

  1. sounds like he is good let’s hope he is, welcome to Arsenal Cohen.
PS. still gutted by our failure to close our gap on chelsea. Why do we always come short when there is an opportunity to make some ground?

    1. coz we have the most experienced manager in the EPL, and still can’t take advantage of anything presented to him on a plate

      1. We’ll see how Che get on when they go away to Bourn, after that they’re away to utd, home Sou, away Eve. Before Bourn they face city.

  2. Getting a bit fed up with signing all these so called superstar young players, remember Dan Crowley who when we signed him from Villa was the next big thing. Hasn’t been near the 1st team and keeps getting farmed out on loan. Be nice to sign someone who can slot into the 1st team straight away….

  3. WOW, We wake up in 5th place this morning. Embarrassing to say the least. Last year we flopped when the big guns underperformed but this time around all of them are fighting for it. What we do? We buy a fella from itch tier of English football. Pathetic, disgraceful for us I’ll suffering fans. While Chelsea is looking for Ricardo Rodriquez from wolsburg who is versatile and young or letting Draxler go to psg. It hurts the lack of ambition from the coach and board. We cannot handle anymore performance like against the cherries, toffee, and shiny. Voice your discontent in next games. Europa league beacons. It hurts so much the last 6 years, it does.

  4. Who’s our left back in the u23s, this could mean he’s the one getting closer to first team, or else not good enough.

  5. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst, because lets face it we rarely get decent defenders. Santos, Luzhny, stepanovs, Tavlaridis, Cygan, Djourou, senderos, eboue, silvestre, traore, Tavlaridis, Miquel, squillaci to name a few.

  6. The New Ashley Cole that’s a good one. If Mr Wenger ever gave up being a Football Manager he would have a promising career as a Comedian.
