Arsenal make NINE changes in confirmed line-up v Southampton

The confirmed teams are in for the FA Cup match at St Marys Stadium today, as Arsenal look to avenge their League Cup loss to Southampton earlier in the season.

The Saints have the chance to become the first team since the 1982/83 season to knock Arsenal out of both cup competitions thanks to their 2-0 win at the Emirates back in November.

They followed up that win with the two-legged defeat of Liverpool in midweek, and will be flying full of confidence ahead of tonight’s upcoming game, but have decided to name a relatively inexperienced side for the encounter.

We have also included some squad members, but should have a clear advantage going into the match.

We here at JustArsenal had expected the midfield to be shaken up, but the Ox was still a surprise inclusion in a central role.

Looking at both teams, we should win comfortably, but what do you think the score should be?

  1. VERY exciting team full of pace and counter attacking threat but i’m worried about how they will gel together and how our midfield will defend too. This should be an exciting game

  2. Well it will be interesting to watch if nothing else. The key for me is Holding. If he can slot in well and the back five play with confidence it should give our young midfield confidence to express themselves.

  3. Soton are also playing with their second team. They have more changes from their first team than we do.

They fielded a stronger team in EFL cup against us.

  4. My only problem is the CM.
Niles and Ox. Who takes the DM position.
Very happy to see Holding there. The front I’d quite okay and with their line up, we should overrun them.

    1. Let every player stake his claim. I was expecting Reine-Adelaide to be in the first team before Iwobi. He should be taking his chances.

  5. My o my what a team selection. It doesn’t look good on paper. Poor poor poor. Put a team on and win the game then take players off,

  6. Am I the only one who thinks Mustafi isn’t really better than Mertesacker? Mertesacker’s main problem is pace, but Mustafi isn’t the fastest of defenders as well and often gets caught by pacy players.

      1. I might be mistaken but I think we’ve conceded less from corners since mustafi showed up as well. Which is wierd cause mert is a GIANT.

  7. Jeez, You cant say that Wenger isn’t brave!
But then again we know that the Saints are playing all kids so we should do the business.
Really looking forward to seeing Welbeck and Perez today.
    Strange feeling right now, butterflies!

  8. Im worried. I was at the Emirates a few years ago when Wenger made so many changes as well against their kids.
    Southampton won 2-1!
    Im worried very worried

  9. cool finish… but i can’t understand why lucas doesn’t play more games… that was a super pass

  10. Watch and suffer Mr Giroud. Back to the bench matey.
And that àss from Lucas for the first…. Why dooesnt he play every week again?

  11. And Chambo’s assist for the second. Bould is going to have some real selection headaches next week lol

    1. He’s been great today. So has Ox with his long balls and tracking back. Midfielders really working hard

  12. Delighted to see us doing this without the superstars such as ozil sanchez Ramsey xhaka. Delighted for welbeck and pleased for Mr long ball ox 🙂 on a side note the Southampton player taking hoiberg made me chuckle!

    1. Wouldn’t consider Ramsey and Xhaka anywhere in the vicinity of the term “Superstar” but opinions are well like…..

Naitland-Miles has more upside than either quite frankly

  13. who the hell is this guy wearing the ox shirt.. certainly not the ox we know… but i am loving it

  14. All I can say is ox ox ox! Omg. Sanchez looks miserable. I’ve loved ox centrally with lucas and walcott on the wings hopefully Wenger keeps Ramsey on the bench!
