Arsenal need patience for this ‘moment of truth’

I am sure that most Arsenal fans will be expecting nothing less than a win from the Gunners today, and with Burnley bringing a pretty wretched away record with them to the Emirates today then a lot of fans will also be expecting lots of goals and a stroll for the lads today.

But Arsene Wenger is being a bit more cautious and has warned his players about the dangers that the Clarets could pose in a report on the Arsenal website ahead of this must win game. He reminded them that we were lucky to get away with the win at Turf Moor when a late winner from Koscielny could easily have been chalked off for handball.

The Frenchman was also warning about the dangers of taking the opposition too lightly and the Premier League matches yesterday should have helped to drill this home to his team. So hopefully they will take notice of Wenger’s comments about the need to remember about the defensive side of the game and not just go bombing forwards, even though he accepts that creating and scoring goals is one of the main strengths of the Gunners.

He said, “We have a very strong attack, we can score goals from everywhere and I like that. I like that the offensive dynamic in the team can come from everywhere.

“At the moment we have Walcott out, and he’s scored goals. We have Alexis and Giroud scoring most of the goals but we have recently seen that Ramsey can score, Iwobi can of course score, Ozil can score. That is something very interesting for us.

“I’m a manager who likes to go forward but we have to find that balance between offense and defence, and that’s maybe where the future of this season lies – can we find a good balance between attacking and defending?”

Wenger also spoke about the coming weeks and months being a ‘moment of truth’ for this current version of Arsenal, as a couple of defeats before christmas for us combined with a great run of reasults from Chelsea have left us with no room for manouevre in the race for the EPL title.

The question is, are we ready?

Bob.

  1. Please keep going forward Mr Wenger and just keep going without looking back.? man,if you haven’t found the right balance in over a decade, the chances are that you’ll never will.? I’m bored of the bull? riddles and same old ground hog seasons.

  2. All the results yesterday went in Arsenal’s favour…
Which is enough reason to suspect they’ll let us down in the Burnley game today 🙁

    1. with 15+ games left we are already depending on outside factors in the title race. so in the mean time i just enjoy the football played. if chance favours us, well and goodt. otherwise if we don’t lose any game from now we are not going to win the league if our rivals at the top dont lose too.lets not take our hopes too high and underestimate any opponent.
