Arsenal player ratings from Watford – Alexis MOTM

The Arsenal and Chile international was probably not at his imperious best for the Gunners´ vital away win o9ver Watford and considering that Alexis Sanchez only touched down in London on Thursday after a taxing international break, that is no surprise. And there were other players like Ozil, Cazorla and Ramsey that played very well but for scoring the vital opening goal and for the tireless work that inspires his team mates, Alexis gets my nod for our Man of the Match.

Cech 6 – Didn´t have too much to do but a couple of shaky moments.

Bellerin 7 – Another solid and energetic performance capped by an assist.

Mertesacker 6 – Not a brilliant day for the German whose lack of pace was exposed.

Koscielny 7.5 – Great to have the boss back and getting stuck in.

Monreal 6.5 – Like Bellerin but no assist.

Coquelin 7 – Love this guy. He never let´s you down and his passing is really coming on.

Cazorla 7.5 – Santi pulled out his magician´s hat again and pulled all the strings from the middle.

Ramsey 7.5 – Lung busting and effective game. Plus the goal of course.

Ozil 8 – Class. His influence grew as Watford´s energy dropped and he was instrumental in the result.

Alexis 8.5 – Where does he get all the drive and energy from?

Walcott 6 – Frustrating day for the flying forward saw few chances go his way.

subs:
Giroud 7 – Another good goal and the confidence is coming back.

Chamberlain 6 – Decent cameo that kept Watford on the back foot.

Arteta 6 – No dramas and a useful run out.

  1. Listen Baby Please

Next time it’s better to publish ratings during the day rather very early in the morning when most are sleeping

I agree with most of the ratings

Ozil, Cazorla, Koscielny, Alexis, Cech Bellerin and Coquelin have been our most consistently good players.

OX, Ramsey, Walcott, Monreal, Giroud are not as consistent. I am hoping that this changes soon.

Walcott needs to use competition from Giroud to improve himself. He could lose his starting spot to Giroud

    1. “During the day” where? This is the internet – you know that global thingy. Tell us what timezone you are in and we’ll try and accommodate you.

    1. Is it too early to call Bellerin world class ? Still haven’t seen him do any serious mistakes since he joined the 1st team

  2. ratings may be little better for bellerin and cazorla was outstanding today at least 8 along with Duracell he was our motm

    1. I don’t still understand why some fans here still underrate MONREAL.. bcos I can’t remembered ,,,d last time he has not play very well for Arsenal…… COYG

  3. Gabriel wasn’t even on the bench I wonder why. The truth is that Per mertesacker is a ticking time bomb. Martial skinned him against man utd but cech saved him the blushes.Against Watford he was horrible but since we kept a clean sheet no one seems to remember. It is only a matter of time before he gets exposed like the Monaco game last season. Don’t say there were no warning signs coz there have been plenty.

  4. Yeah,i agree wd ur ratings, ofcourse theo need to rly improve, though his presence made the wtfrd defnders unstable coz they ar afraid of hs tricky movement nd pace,bt giroud can still challenge him.UP UP UP UP UP KWANKWASIYYA GUNNERS.

  5. We have one of the most exciting defence in world football. Koscielny was a boss yesterday: made many crucial impossible stoppages. He kept us in the game until the forward players found their rhythm. Monreal, so consistent. His ability on the ball (as shown in that pass to Cazorla) is very impressive. Bellerin what can one say that hasn’t been said? Best 19 year old player in Europe probably.

  6. I preferred Mertesacker to Koscielny yesterday. I thought Laurent had maybe 6 shaky moments in the first half? But then again he had THAT amazing intervention, which saved our clean sheet and maybe the game…

Mertesacker was amazing with his clearances, 8/8 I think – nothing went past him. There was just one mistake he made, where he was positioned badly and had to make a late tackle… Otherwise imposing and assured.

People forget that Mert to Kos is the same as Kos is to Mert – amazing player and defender that makes his partner look even better. Mert has strenghts like being a vocal leader, really calm on the ball, great positioning and heading, great vision, all of this really suits Laurent, who is not a gread organizer himself and can be a bit erratic with his positioning when he is doing his all-action thing we all love.
