Arsenal signing Cohen makes impressive debut in 3-1 win

Arsenal signing Cohen Bramall made his debut for the Arsenal Under-23 development side last night against Southampton.

Bramall is the first player to join the club this window in a £40,000 deal, and some fans are growing excited about his potential.

The 20 year-old started in last night’s Premier League 2 match away to the Saints, in which his side came from a goal down to win 3-1 thanks to goals Mavididi, Nketiah and Willock.

After watching the match, fans are growing excited about the prospect of the new signing moving up to the first-team squad in the near future.

Arsene Wenger previously admitted that he saw similar qualities in Cohen as he did in a young Ashley Cole, who as we all remember turned out to be the best English left-back for the majority of his career, and was also a key member of our Invincibles side also.

The left-back has now moved to express his thanks to the club, while praising the experience of making his bow in the development side.

The left-back still has some way to come before making the step-up to the senior side, with both Kieran Gibbs and Nacho Monreal ahead of him in the pecking order. There could be hope of making an appearance in the FA Cup fourth round, but should Southampton overcome Norwich to take us on, we may look to play a near-full strength side (especially as the Saints knocked us out of the League Cup this term).

Could Cohen be our next left-back to make the leap from our development side into the first-team?

  1. I hope so
    Its possible we wont have BOTH Monreal and Gibbs next season
    Even if we do we need a 3rd lb

    But need to sort out RB too
    Bellerin staying is a must
    But Debuchy wants to leave and Jenkinson has performed poorly

    1. Jenkinson is going to Crystal Palace. Debuchy won’t be going anywhere, but we have Gabriel who has done very well as RB backup.

    2. As Tidan pointed out, Gab has done well in that role as well, IMO we are ok at RB even if we sell Debuchy and Jenkinson if we also consider Maitland-Niles as 3rd choice RB.

      Another thing to also think about with Gabs is his long term pos at Arsenal. We have (when fit and not on loan);
      Kos, Mustafi, Per, Gab, Holding and Chambers in the 1st team. Bielik is impressing and could step up soon to add to the mix.

      Chambers and Holding is a potential future partnership, both young and English. Mustafi isn’t that much older and is quality, if he stays quality then he is a starter.

      Gab is going to be surplus to requirement if he doesn’t do something and being competition for RB could give him much more game time, if he applies his experience at CB then he could be a good defensive RB.

      His uglyness reminds me of Keown so I am fond of Gab but being realistic, where is his future at Arsenal? He isn’t stepping up as hoped and we ended up getting Mustafi. Per is signing a contract extension while Kos has already signed for 3(?) more years… Those 3 are ahead of Gab in Wengers eyes…

  2. By the way, where is Ashely Cole now? No one seems to read any news in the media about him these days. I hope he’s doing fine.

    I don’t want to see Southampton beat Millwall tonight at Saint Mary’s. But if they do, Arsenal will handle them decisively in our FA Cup round of 16 match at Saint Mary’s. Because Arsenal will not allow Southampton to do the double in the Cup games against us this season. But who knows, it might even be Millwall Arsenal will after all face and not Southampton because an FA Cup replay has the unpredictable outcome element as a surprise added to it. It’s good to wait keeping our fingers crossed.

  3. I am pleased with having a good young LB prospect, we have Bellerin on the right and I really think Maitland-Niles has done enough to be considered a potential future RB.

    Young and needs developing but;

    RB: Bellerin/Maitland-Niles
    CB: Holding/Chambers/Bielik (Mustafi could be the ‘mature and experienced’ player at this point)
    LB: Cohen and ???

    IMO we still need another LB as Gibbs is injured too much to rely on and Monreal is showing signs of aging in his game, could do with a ‘fresh start’ in the LB role soon.

    Rumors about Gaya have risen again and that would be welcome, Rodreigrez(sp?) is another one we was rumored to be linked with and again I he looks like a good option. One or the other along with Cohen would virtually give us our future defense.

  4. Personally, i think between gaya and Rodriguez would be okay be me….and I’ve watched both players ,so either one of them would be welcome at Arsenal… as for bramall , i think he needs time to learn the philosophy of the club(Arsenal) before rushing him into d first team.
