To be perfectly honest, and I do not want to fall out with arguably the best player in the Arsenal squad here, but I hope that Chile have a pretty poor and short lived Copa America tournament as Alexis Sanchez and co attempt to defend the trophy they won for the first time last summer.
Let’s be honest here Gooners, and admit that our star man from the previous season had nowhere near the same impact in his second year as a Gunner. Partly that was because he was injured for a large part of it but as well as saying that may have been due to his workload in recent years for club and country, it seemed to also affect his performance when fit.
So I reckon a nice early exit from the tournament would be good for Arsenal, but I would not say the same for our second choice keeper David Ospina, who excelled in goal for Colombia in their first two group games, as reported by Arsenal.com, keeping a clean sheet against the hosts USA and holding off a spirited Paraguay to help his country become the first to book a place in the next round.
Colombia have some very good players in a strong squad and I reckon they could go all the way, and that would be great news for Ospina and possibly for Arsenal. Either he comes back to north London in great spirits and full of confidence and ready to challenge Petr Cech for the starting spot, or he makes himself very attractive to potential suitors in the transfer market and makes Arsenal more money.
He might even make me some dosh as I have had a cheeky bet on Colombia to win. Come On You Gunner!
