If the latest Arsenal transfer rumours coming out of Italy and Serie A are true, then it could well be the case that the on loan Arsenal and Poland international stopper Wojciech Szczesny is back in north London next month, as his current club AS Roma are set to sign a new permanent number one.
The Mirror is reporting that the Italian keeper Salvatore Sirigu refused to play for PSG in their final Champions League group game after losing his first choice status to youngster Kevin Trapp and Roma are set to offer him a lifeline back into Serie A, terminating the loan deal for Shezzer early.
This is perhaps a bit of good news for the Gunners, as a few days ago Metro was reporting that our current second choice keeper David Ospina was unhappy with his lack of playing time and was ready to mobe on. The Turkish club Besiktas are apparently close to agreeing a loan deal in January with a view to a permanent transfer in the summer.
The fact that Szczesny played a blinder for Roma in their own final Champions League group game, with his string of top class saves almost single handedly keeping them in the competition, is another bonus for Arsenal and surely working under the brilliant Petr Cech will do the Pole some good.
So will it be all chance at Arsenal in the reserve keeper situation?
Can Szczesny play for us in ECL if he has played for Roma? Would be unfortunate if Cech was injured and we no longer had Ospina and couldn’t play Szczesny.
I don’t know if it’s just Romas defence in genral but with Scszesny in goal, Roma are keeping less cleansheets this season than they did in preiovus seasons.
Just keep in a way from Arsenal, bad influence on Wiltshire.
@frisco
Jack is his own bad influence…
Let’s wait and CECH later!
Always said this boy loves Arsenal but for that kid to take all the crap for Arsenal playing bad was just wrong and again AW did that to him. Great having him back with Peter teaching him I think we have a winning team. WS needs to listen and take note something I think he will do
Stephen Spielberg has made a movie called “The BFG”
I didn’t know he was an Arsenal or Mertsacker fan
@Davros
It’s from a book by Roald Dahl…Before Mert was born.
A real conundrum…..Ospina is way too good to be a perpetual bench warmer like he has been all this season while Sxhezney will be quiet content doing just that and ”learning” the ropes from the master Cech…..problem is can he actually do the job if called upon?….personally I have lost faith and patience with him, on the field and off it, he has been a massive disappointment and a let down……people are going on about his form in Roma, I say he is not doing something he has not dome at Arsenal, he has good games but lacks that consistency and maturity you will expect from a player who has been given the number one jersey for more than 2 years in one of the biggest clubs in the world…..i might be wrong but if he did not improve then I doubt he has the mentality to do so in anytime soon
