Arsenal v Burnley – Match Preview, Line-up and Score Prediction

Arsenal host Burnley in today’s afternoon match, with the Gunners looking to cap the perfect weekend off with a win. We have already seen all of our rivals drop points on Saturday, with only Chelsea and us not having played from the top six, and this match could prove huge in the title race.

We don’t expect the Blues to drop points at home to relegation-threatened Hull City, but they have to take on us and Liverpool in their next two league outings, which could see them join us in the extremely tight top-six battle.

This makes the next few weeks ultra-important, and we need to try and take each match as they come, starting with today. Burnley come to the Emirates Stadium having picked up only one solitary point from their nine away league outings, and we cant allow them to add to that.

The travelling side can also only boast having scored three goals on their travels, while we remain unbeaten at home since the opening Premier League weekend.

We should be able to call upon some returning stars today, with Francis Coquelin, Hector Bellerin, Olivier Giroud and Kieran Gibbs all expected to be available after injuries. The French striker was a doubt for the match after having to be subbed off last weekend, but is believed to have recovered in time to feature.

Expected Arsenal XI:

Cech
Bellerin  Mustafi  Koscielny  Monreal
Xhaka   Ramsey
Iwobi         Ozil        Alexis
Giroud

I must admit, this game almost seems like too obvious a win, which in turns have given me some doubt. We should be winning this game 4-0 with both Alexis and Giroud scoring, but for some reason I feel like they will resist letting us walk all over them, so I will resist the easy 4-0 win with a tame 2-0 win.

What are your predictions?

  1. It’s not going to be an easy match given the results of yesterday matches and we all know ARSENAL do mess up in these type of matches , i just hope everyone is on there A game for today’s match there can never be any complacency now that teams around us are dropping points, our own faith is in our hands.. Gunners till ETERNITY !!!

    1. If Wenger can’t get his new super squad set up to destroy Burnley, then he may as well resign tonight!

  2. It`s that time of year and that kind of match where Arsenal drop their bundle also when ever I see Ramsey`s name in the line up it puts doubt in my mind. For these reasons I`m going for a draw. Arsenal have the golden opportunity to go second behind Chelsea but will they take it?.

  3. I know it is better to be negative before a game instead of overconfident, but come on lads this is Burnley at home we are talking about!
We destroyed Swansea last week and I see no reason why we can’t do exactly the same thing today. Knock them for 6 and lets improve our goal difference while we are at it!

  4. With all due respects to Burnley, I’m going for a 3 nil victory for the Gunners… This should really be a hammering but there you go.?
