Arsenal v Man United – Wenger banking on home win

Although the destination of the Premier League title will not be decided this afternoon, Arsene Wenger is in no doubt that the Gunners must beat Man United at home, and turn the Emirates into a fortress, if they are going to be serious challengers this season.

Wenger told the Official Arsenal website: “These are always tough games,”

“Man United always have big teams, the golden generation brought them many… but they won all their championships at home.

“If you analyse the number of championships Man United have won, it’s always at Old Trafford.

“Without home form, you don’t win the championship, that’s for sure. We have a big game at home and the advantage is to win the big game at home.

“It’s the first massive game for the top of the table. It’s at home and you want to win.”

That is very brave words from Wenger ahead of such an important game. Basically he is asserting that this is a must-win-game in the race for the title. It is certainly a six-pointer, as we will either be level with Van Gaal’s side tonight or six points behind. I think this could be called a high pressure game from both sides.

Arsenal managed to win in our last crucial match against United, and that was at Old Trafford, so I can’t see any reason why we can’t do the same today. What I would really like is a convincing win so that the pundits actually start taking Arsenal seriously for a change.

Onwards and Upwards!

  1. A day for every player to stand up and be counted. Other than Koz we have a full strength team. No excuses. We’re at home. Let’s give it 110% and go into the break in the top three. COYG’s!!!

  2. Don’t understand how some people will call themselves fans and then wish for the team to lose. I want Wenger out as much as anyone but willing the team you support to lose is just wrong. Hoping we turn up today and get a win.

  3. Winning man utd at home will make a stamens for us, bcos suddenly we might be 2nd and get this title challenge kicking
A loss however will be demoralising

  4. Hmm.. Curious as to how Wenger is going to set up.

  6. Am expecting nothing than a HOME win…I trust this arsenal side but it seem they always lack confidence when it comes to big game…I hope they prove me wrong and hammer man utd just like SOTON did to CHELSEA…

    O.T

CHELSEA have not won a game in the EPL this season without a red card against the opposing team…lol
    Swansea 11 men – draw
Manchester city 11 men – lose
    Westbrom 10 men – win
Crystal palace 11 men – lose
    Everton 11 men – lose
    Arsenal 9 men – win
Newcastle united 11 men – draw
    Southampton 11 men – lose

  7. Cech back is huge.
    Giroud to start?
    Hope there are no
    red cards or penalties.
It means more to us because
we are at home and we are behind.
They can lose and still be on the same points as us
and have their home leg to come.
So I think Arsenal will win well.

    1. Yeah hope so.

      Cech
      Bellerin Mert Gab Monreal
      Coq Caz
      Ozil

    1. Another well reasoned argument there Brada. Have youbeen practising your debating skills again?

Soi f we beat United and go on to win the League, you will want Wenger sacked? Grow up!

  8. We need everyone to step up today! No room for complacency, a total team effort is needed if we want this and the 3 points! Coyg!

  9. “Without home form, you don’t win the championship, that’s for sure. We have a big game at home and the advantage is to win the big game at home.”

That’s the spirit Arsene! Today’s the day we will show everyone that we mean business this season! COYG!!!
