Could Arteta break curse and win on his first trip to Liverpool?

Our trip to Anfield tonight, if successful, will break the curse and the record that is held by Tom Whittaker!

As it will be the first time he is taking our boys to Anfield for an away game in his managerial stint, Mikel Arteta has the chance to break the record of being the first manager to win on his FIRST ever away trip to Liverpool since Tom Whittaker did the exact same thing back in December 1947.

Any trip to Anfield is a tough one to take and given that we have two in the space of three days in two different competitions, lets hope its two successful away trips for our gaffer.

He has the experience of beating Liverpool twice already since he took over from interim Freddie Ljungberg only nine months ago. The first came at the Emirates in the Premier League and the second time was at Wembley in the Community Shield final. WWe know our boys and his tactics have the ability to beat Jurgen Klopp’s side, but as I have said previously, Anfield has never really been much of a happy hunting ground for us. But now is the time for change, surely!

Let’s hope this week produces a better outcome for us, both for the sake of the mental outcome of our boys whom with two more wins over Liverpool will surely be classed as serious challengers no? And secondly for our manager, because given that he is prone to breaking records, after winning the FA Cup at the first time of asking, surely the whole team deserves as much!

Here’s hoping hey Gooners?
