Do Arsenal now have a new forward line?

After a terrible new year fixture schedule that saw Arsenal, who have already had the drawback compared to Premier League rivals Chelsea and Liverpool of having to play the six extra midweek games in the Champions League, have to play two games in two days and get the shortest recovery time of all the clubs chasing the EPL title, we now have a well needed breather before the next league match.

So with the Gunners taking on a mid table Championship team in Preston North End in the FA cup game on Saturday I expect to see a lot of the first team regulars given a rest. But when we do return to league action next weekend with a trip to Swansea City I wonder if Arsene Wenger will go with the same forward line that earned us such an unlikely point with a three goal comeback away to Bournemouth.

With two assists and the equalising goal against the Cherries Olivier Giroud was named as the Man of the Match by the Sky Sports pundits and after his previous late goal heroics this season and that amazing wonder goal against Crystal Palace you would have to think he has a great chance of starting again.

Alexis Sanchez is a no brainer of course, but then the boss has a selection problem on his hands. Along with Giroud I think that Lucas Perez played a huge part in the comeback at Bournemouth and after a slow start to his playing career with Arsenal I think the Spaniard is starting to show why Wenger signed him.

Even though Theo Walcott has been good so far this season and is likely to be fit to play in Swansea, I would like to see Lucas given another chance and in an Arsenal.com report the boss spoke about using the players who are in form.

He said, “You have to use the players who are in the best form at the right moment so I think it’s normal and it’s part of the competition between the players. If they know that no matter how well they perform, they have no chance to play, they give up.”

Does that mean that Arsenal now have a new first choice forward line of Alexis, Giroud and Lucas Perez?

  1. I would try

    ………………….Cech
    Bellerin…Koscielny…Gabs…Monreal
    ………….Coquelin…..Xhaka
    …………………..Ozil (if healthy)
    Ox/Alexis……………………….Lucas
    ……………..Alexis/Giroud

I think we should start Lucas
    Not start Ramsey

  2. to be honest i’ve been positively surprised by lucas the guy is improving with each game this must be the result of training with better players everyday but he could improve his defensive side of the game even though his interception was the start of the counter attack for giroud’s goal against palace&his goal against the cherries was not an easy one!!
