Do Arsenal really care who comes through FA cup replay?

As well as the need for Arsenal to keep winning our Premier League game to stop Chelsea running away with the EPL title this season, there is a growing importance to Arsenal fans on the FA cup. The longer that Chelsea keep winning the longer that this cup competition looks like the best chance of a trophy for Arsenal.

So after the Gunners host Burnley in the league this Sunday all Gooners’ eyes will be on our fourth round FA cup clash the following weekend. We do not yet know which team will be facing Arsenal as Southampton and Norwich City drew and will decide the tie at St. Mary’s tomorrow and I really cannot choose which of the two I would prefer to win.

Normally it would be an easy choice and we would be hoping that the Championship side came through to give Arsenal an easier ride but this time things are much less clear. That is because the Saints are in the middle of a crucial, bust and tiring run of games.

Just days befor our fourth round clash they have the second leg of the EFL cup semi-final and after beating Liverpool 1-0 in the first leg they will surely be giving everything to get to Wembley. Succeed or fail and I think they will find it hard to get fully up for the FA cup.

On the other hand they do have a good recent record against the Gunners while Norwich on paper are an easier opponent. What do you guys think? Do we care who gets through the replay?

  1. Arsenal should care and be watchful of which of the two teams that gets through to the fourth round of the competition to play against us. Football is said not to be mathematics. Therefore, the Gunners should not premise their game win in this upcoming FA Cup match against any of the two teams that got through to meet us on one becoming fatigued and thus they will beat them, and the other being a championship side they will easily put them aside. The Gunners should fully prepared themselves to enable them beat any of the two sides they’ ll meet..

Although our PL game at the Emirates on Sunday against Burnley should be our focus for now before we start to think of our fourth round FA Cup match against either the Saints team or the Lions team. When the time to play the Cup game comes, I am sure Arsenal will squarely deal with it to win the game.
