Should Arsenal stump up £40Million asking price for striker?

Celtic are claimed to be unwilling to discuss the sale of Arsenal and Chelsea target Moussa Dembele for any less than £40 Million, but is he worth that?

The 20 year-old has an impressive 20 goals in all competitions so far this term for his club, and is claimed to be in London visiting a specialist with a niggle.

His trip on deadline day has led to claims that Chelsea could well be trying sign him, with the Blues said to have made their interest known.

Arsenal have been linked with the youngster for some time now however, having kept a keen eye on him during his time in London with Fulham previously, and we were even said to have tried to land him on a free transfer in the summer.

The French Under-21 international made the decision to move to Scottish Premier League champions Celtic however, but has progressed heavily over the past six months, picking up five Champions league goals, two of which came against Manchester City.

His progress will have alerted all the big guns across Europe to his ever-growing talents, and come the summer, there could be some seriously strong bids coming in for him, and we are known to not enjoy those big-money battles.

This may well be our best opportunity to sign one of the best young talents in Europe, but is he worth the £40 Million asking price?

In relative terms, our record signing is £42 Million, the fee paid to bring Mesut Ozil to North-London from Real Madrid, whilst having secured Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona for a bargain £31.7 Million.

The Chilean’s fee would most certainly tell you that almost no player in the world is worth £40 Million, but Barcelona were looking to sell, while the Celts are more than happy to keep their top goalscorer, and their player is only six months into his four-year contract.

Should Arsenal take the plunge and buy Moussa for £40 Million before the day is out?

  1. No. I don’t know why some arsenal fans just want us to buy every player we see available in the window

  2. Arsenal should go all out in the summer for just one striker for £60m+, and call it a window there. Maybe buy a 2nd choice RB as well.

  3. is this the same striker that lots of us on here were calling for wenger to sign last summer for a pittance. now he is worth 40 million six months into his contract. celtic must be laughing .
